SAVE AP PANTHEON

Basically title. Ult having 50% AP ratio now instead of 100% doesn't make sense to me. AP Pantheon was and still is some of the most fun I've ever had in League, and it's not like it's even remotely a viable build, but when I'm trying to unwind and chill, I just hop in a game with friends and laugh together with them with a super fun off-meta build. The fact that the base damage was lowered made sense to me considering how it's bigger now and has the extra area where it can do damage. However, I fail to understand why the AP ratio on an AD champ had to be lowered. It's not like it'll suddenly make AP Panth viable or anything, and it just kills a fun build that people enjoy playing. Killing 300 base damage at max rank is still pretty big regardless, and I don't think it needs the further nerf of having the AP ratio cut in half.

I understand this will likely be glossed over and nobody will likely look or care but on the off-chance it gets somewhere and a Rioter or someone looks at it, please reconsider the nerf. There's no reason to kill a build that's fun despite not being viable, and the rework won't suddenly make it viable. Thank you.

Not only that but his W deals physical dmg instead of magic dmg

Edit: fixed from below

Not only that but his W deals physical dmg instead of magic dmg (FTFY)

This, if both abilities did the same damage type at least we'd knew if we should be building lethality/ armor pen or magic pen. That would help the build.

I didn't even notice that honestly. Weird how an ability with a 1:1 AP ratio does physical damage. Imo it's gonna make it even harder for the build to work, since getting armor pen would require you to get an ad item, which won't increase any your R or W damage, which is the brunt of your damage.

I'm confused at the point since, Panth doesn't traditionally build AP. It actually would make sense to remove the scaling completely, or make it AD based, or up base damage. If they don't want AP to be a factor (like they do with most champions that are AD that had random AP scalings). Otherwise, why 50% instead of 100%? Because even full AP nunu ults sometimes don't kill people, full ap pantheons won't one shot anyone at 50% or 100%, Riot should let him keep the 100%

I'm a bit confused at your statement, do you mind clarifying?

Kiwi Lemonade1 votes

Sorry - basically I agree, AP Panth should be a thing since they've indicated by having the ratio still, that they are condoning it. Other champions that had weird AP ratios had these ratios removed to not influence players taking the off-meta AP route, but they left this ratio in on new Pantheon's ult, basically saying yes AP Panth players, you should still have the option - but then nerfed the ratio by 50% and removed W's AP ratio...

So I agree, why? At this point either bump the ult ratio back up or remove it completely, 50% is so arbitrary, it was already laughable at 100%. They need to make up their mind about it

Always Chase Me2 votes

Ah, yeah then I would agree with you. If they wanted to kill the AP build they would've just completely taken out the scalings, so the fact that they're there at all perplexes me, but then again Yi still has AP scalings on his W despite AP Yi being dead a long long time ago. I'm really hoping this doesn't end up staying at the same ratio.

Do note that reworked Pantheon's ult covers an even bigger area compared to that one big circle current Pantheon has. Leaving it at 100% AP ratio can seriously nuke the enemy team without warning.

Always Chase Me1 votes

I did mention that in the post, however keep in mind that the base damage is already lower, and I think that 300 base damage taken off is plenty. The fact that its scaling is completely cut in half on top of that means it wont do nearly as much damage.

i'm an AP Pantheon main, all I do when I play Panth is AP Pantheon, I am so upset. Where do i sign to save my Panth?!?!?

They don't care about new playstyles anymore.

Sewer Side4 votes

Yes, because nuking someone with AP is a brand new never before seen playstyle.

Have you met AP Shyvana yet? Is that reaaaaaaaaally fun to play against getting nuked by her dragon E?

DUDE BRO1 votes

They should do like the MF remakes, and move AP ratios around a bit.

W: still 100%. R: 50%.

BUT E: 50% on the final hit.

E has a mega cooldown and using it just for damage is a nono, so that should keep AP as a veeery niche fun pick.

the actual pantheon is the opposite of fun tho, its like teemo, but actually winning.

His new ult has the same 50% ratio, it's just the live version can be increased by 100% if they are like dead-center. He can't amp it beyond 50% anymore, but then again he has higher base magic damage at 300/500/700 magic damage (benefiting more from mpen) and the ultimate is more likely to hit and hits along a long arc.

That means his ult is likely to do more damage with the higher base and being more likely to actually hit.

So I think AP Pantheon will probably be the same, most importantly the W still is a 100% ap ratio ability with the same cooldown.

Always Chase Me1 votes

Afaik the damage still decreases around the edges, so not hitting them dead center will still decrease the amount of damage

Wild Geese1 votes

Yeah I forgot about that, still it has higher base damageto work with..

THough there's a couple other things I forgot to mention about AP panth..

  1. His Q spear execute is very strong to start out, doesn't really need AD - Since the execute is simply double damage.
  2. Since the empowered W does 3 autoattacks, he works a lot better with onhit AP items like Nahsor's Tooth and Lichbane.

I dunno I'm just seeing simular results like, AP panth starts off kinda slow and is kinda nuts in the lategame, just like it always was, to abuse the 100% ap W damage... even if it's physical damage, it doesn't really change matters much.

The only way I'm going to be able to keep playing AP pantheon is by playing On hit Pantheon, with rageblade hail of blades and all the magic damage on hit items with a single W and hail of blades you can get 3 autos in during the stun time, that gives you 6 total procs, which is a ton.

Wild Geese1 votes

He's just a different kinda Pantheon, he doesn't have the same burst even if he's AD,..

He's built for fighting longer so I doubt AD Panth will be the usual lethality and mobis either, more about squirmishing and poke, less about being a kinda Assassin/Bully.

Always Chase Me2 votes

The base damage used to be 400/700/1000, now it's 300/500/700, decreasing near the edges, so the damage it did is an all-around nerf. Now that you mention it, I can potentially see some sort of AP Lich + Nashor's build working out in that case. I don't think it'll be quite the same but I'll have to see I suppose. I suppose I was just hoping to be able to do the same thing that I used to do: mandrop out of nowhere and watch their health get chunked from just my ult.

So you can do AP Panth. His W scales 100%

His DPS when built AP is about the same as his AD DPS

Always Chase Me1 votes

What DPS? Only W and R scales with AP, a full AP build renders your other abilities practically useless past early game.
