Can we have an actual conversation about hidden MMR and player rank?

Everyone who brings this topic up... gets shot down with "You're in gold because you suck!" "You blame your teammates? Its YOU!" and things like that.

The ranked system is flawed. There is no game in existence other than league with two separate ranking systems. Bronze through diamond plus the hidden MMR rank.

Heres the system: if you have 5 average skilled players on one team in the Plat 5 bracket and on the other team there is 1 high skilled player from Plat 5... the system makes that players teammates less good to compensate for his higher skill.

That means... your rank means nothing. Its just a badge. Your hidden MMR shows your skill level. And the goal of all of this... is to maintain a 50/50 win rate... and to stop people from boosting.

So what will happen is... you'll get in a bracket... and you'll stay there. You won't climb and you won't fall. I have 3 different accounts at the moment. One is stuck in plat 5. One is stuck in gold. And the other is climbing plat 3/2 but has low games played. On my gold I have 100's of games played trying to get to plat. Cannot get out of it. On my other 2 plats I got out of gold within 50 games.

I bring this up because I'd like a game where you're surrounded by people of equal skill. Thats it. It shouldnt be a difficult thing to ask for... but it seems like it is. I love league... just really starting to let me down.

If your MMR is higher than the average of your League, you gain more LP than you lose. So the system works. The MMR becomes distorted from your league when you do a huge series of wins, but starting a certain point your LP gains become huge and you skip leagues. It's actually a pretty good system to detect smurfs. Sucks for me because I pretty much instantly go to plat ; 30 or so games after I reach lvl 30 on a new account

Having the second ranking system (hidden MMR) makes that happen yes. But what else does it do that negatively impacts play? Doesn't it also group you with lesser players if youre better?

Shouldn't a ranking system employ tactics to make everyone equally skilled? Thats what every other game on market does. And it doesn't seem difficult for them to do it either. Just set up a single tier rank system... and let the system figure everyones brackets out.

Instead... we have a system that fights smurfs, boosters, and bought accounts at the cost of every players enjoyment of competition.

Not that much tbh. It's just that the league system is powder to the eyes and a bit designed to annoy boosters because it takes them more time to climb. But if we just look at MMR everything is kinda equal. You just see people with lower/higher leagues and assume they're better/worst but actually have a similar MMR

What do you mean "not that much"? Lol? It completely defines the ranking system and youre saying it yourself. Higher / lower leagues but same MMR. Thats a broken ranking system from anyone viewing it from the outside.

There should be no designed "muck" that causes difficulty to rise simply by taking too long to rise. That ruins competition. Directly influences and negatively impacts competition.

should be roughly an even match each time right?

All i know is that if i just won a game my teammates in the next game will be absolutely crap compared to the enemy team

The clamp should loosen if you go on a streak.

LP changes are determined by MMR. Matchmaking is determined by mmr.

Talking about the leagues stuff is just talking about the way it looks. It doesn't matter. And it has benefits like providing a "fake" penalty to discourage queue dodges, and reduces fear for players playing on the verge of a certain breakpoint by giving them a buffer.

Dont dare talk about the ranking system! Though its different from other games... and makes no sense... dont question it! Forum people will attack you to sway public opinion! Looool
