Hi, I played league in Beta for a long time, and the last time I played was in 2013. I just re-downloaded and it looks like EVERYTHING is different, including a new client and the map looks like it was updated. Can anyone give me a quick rundown of what has changed in the last 3 years? Is the meta still AP mid, AD carry/support bottom etc? Anything to know before jumping in again? The last champion I remember being new was Hecarim or Fizz I think.

Fondling Gems2 votesA big part of it will just be experiencing everything and learning stuff again. The meta is pretty much the same, junglers are a bit more carry oriented now. Dragon has changed into 4 random drags. Infernal gives AD and AP, Wind gives movespeed out of combat, Ocean gives health/mana regen, Stone drake gives damage to turrets.
Before baron spawns (at 20 minutes) rift herald spawn earlier. Killing it lets you summon it to kill turrets.

Meta is usually a top laner, who is typically a tank, bruiser, or diver, a mid laner, whose usually an AP mage or some kind of assassin, an ADC, a support, and a jungler to fill gaps. In the jungle there's plants now, the red ones explode and throw you a short distance, the blue one's grant vision in a cone and reveal all units, and the green ones drop fruit that restores hp and mana. Monster camps have been completely redone. A new monster spawns in Baron Nashor's camp before Baron shows up called the Rift Herald. Riot just updated him so you should be able to figure him out relatively quickly. Dragon has been turned into five different dragons, four elemental dragons that grant different buffs, either increased damage to structures, bonus ad and ap, increased regen out of combat, and increased movespeed out of combat, depending on which dragon gets killed. If you kill the elder Dragon, it doubles the strength of all dragon buffs your team has, and you get a buff that burns enemies that you damage for a few seconds. In general the game has gotten much snowballier and the meta is much more rigid. Welcome back, we hope you enjoy your stay.

But supports do still go bot with the adc.
Arakadia1 votesThere are 4 different types of telegraphed dragons which give unique buffs, Yorick was finally reworked, and an epic monster called Rift Herald spawns before baron does in the same pit. Rift Herald, when killed, gives you an empowered baron recall while you hold a special trinket it gives you. When you use the trinket it summons the Herald to run down the lane and attack turrets. It does an initial dash into each tower it meets, dealing massive damage based off the Herald's current health.

few champs are "OP" just like always I suggest you learn about them quickly.

hmmm what else.... there a system now where you pick 2 pref "roles" aka top,mid,bot,supp,jg
meta is pretty much the same but anything can go anywhere as long as it does good/decent
dont remember if we had or didnt have pings back then we just called "mia"....now the "HUD" is lot better with more information it kinda dumbs the game down a bit...
id check settings if I was you and mess with them to "your way of playing"
runes/masteries have changed but the guides of champs still exist lots of new websites now regarding this.
cant really think of anything else, good luck id be overwhelmed 2 XD
