Fair Game tho?

OK, so I just got out of a very interesting game. It was without a doubt the most one sided game i have ever played; and not just your normal "one team getting rekt" game, seriously it was on a whole other low. Long story short, I decided I would check out the stats of the losing team to see why it was that easy, and what i found was just disgusting. Typically I use some site to scope out my team before the game starts to decide who I will help the most(usually I jungle), but recently I have not done that because sometimes it has the opposite effect if you see numbers that only stress you out xD. My "Go To" site is lolskill, but it doesn't really matter which one you use as long as it has regular updates. The point is, i had an understanding that when you queue up for games, the teams are supposed to be at about the same skill level to give you as close to a 50% win chance as possible, but sometimes it really feels like i'm in a constant losing uphill battle. This game i managed to be on the winning side, but we all fear when the tables turn. Or am i just crazy? Is this really how ranked is supposed to work?
