I would recommend playing a lot more normals before hopping into ranked.

Play ranked whenever you want, except:

  • With a champ you've never played.
  • With some new off-meta thing you've never tried.
  • When you don't really feel like putting in the effort to win.

Have fun man. :)

Well, i started to play league right when Vel'koz was released (2014 i think?) and i spent 1 whole year playing only normal games ( i had about 1.1k normal by the end of the year) but just because i didn't care about ranked at all back then. Then last year ( begining 2016) i started playing ranked for the first time and after i finished my placements i got placed in Silver 2 and in just 2 weeks i climbed to Gold 2. By the end of the year i managed to finish Plat 3. Morale of story: play alot od normals before starting rankeds, it will help u alot.

pro tip, dont. wait until you complete like 4 rune pages and get a pool of 10 champs you can comfortably play, otherwise you will go straight to bronze 5~bronze 3 and you'll be miserable.

these things matter and you cant go in with ap runes with garen/yi in the top/jungle.

You dont learn about this game playing ranked really. Same reason what you intend to do is why. Other level 30 kids rush into ranked not knowing anything... how do you expect to learn anything from people going in not knowing anything like what your doing?

Learning is done outside the game, experience is gained inside the game. Time spent watching videos, reading guides, studying the wiki are how you learn about the game and can be done anytime before level 30.

If youre going from 30 straight into ranked, I doubt you will place high bronze. Especially if you think thats how you learn about the game. My advice would be to learn a few champs in normal draft really well (15 or more games), then play as many as you can at least one or two matches before you go in.

You wont do this though.

You will be like all the other burdens I see in matches with little clue as to what to do, and no one will have the time to explain it to you. They will just expect you to know. It will be your fault for not knowing what to do though, so their flames will be correctly directed at you when you get them. Why should you know? Because it would only take a small percentage of your time to acquire knowledge outside of the game, then bring it into the game. Combine knowledge with experience to develop skill.

Good luck I guess.

If you're getting to level 30 any time in the last year and a half, you haven't played enough to be ready for Ranked. You're going to get flamed so hard you'll wish you were playing an MMO instead, and Riot didn't tell people that since they halved the exp needed for 30 you'll be far less ready than any other group of players has been in the past.

At the very least, since you're "excited to grind," grind for at least 2 full tier 3 rune pages. You don't want 15 AD and 20 AP being the reason you lose every match.

And so you know, rankings work in reverse. Bronze 5 isn't high, it's low.

i highly suggest u dont play ranked until u have either cumulative mastery point of 200k at bare minimum OR 100k mastery on a single champ. or if an high elo player's carrying u About an year ago riot decided to cut the total EXP needed for lv30 by half, and new players werent getting enough experience by the time they hit lv30, let alone incomplete rune pages. and most people who jump into ranked immediately end up as Bronze V and be stuck in the elohell

http://championmasterylookup.derpthemeus.com/ this site should tell u how much cumulative mastery u have.

Don't play ranked until you actually have some decent game knowledge. Trust me.
