Riots ranking system creates a toxic community.

The team based ranking system, which punishes players even if they do well but have allies who don't, creates a negative/toxic community that not only makes getting out of lower elos difficult (Feeders, trolls, afkers.. ect) but ensures that players will chastise and insult each other for every mistake.

I of course am not above this, I've had good games and bad games. I've talked smack and not talked smack.

I can't imagine Riot doesn't have enough match data to come up with a better system that MMR.

I was silver 2, not amazing by any standards, but I was. I am now silver 4. I'll use a few of my previous matches as examples, of which I'm sure I made mistakes myself and talked plenty of smack but bear with me.

3/3/2 Tahm Kench jungle, Our lux dc'd. Whether it was on purpose or not, combined with our top feeding their top. The game was over. People kept engaging prior to my arrival and dying or being to low on hp or mana to assist in any form of gank.

8/10/8 Brand mid vs Le blanc. Overall beat Le blanc, she killed me once first. But after that I won each engage. Was 4/2 if I recall correctly at one point. Bot fed Rengar by constantly over extending. I died a lot after he could kill me instantly in each team fight, combined with LB burst. Over all we lost after swain/lucian/hec decided to push mid and engage the enemy team without myself and thresh. Hec/swain/thresh then tried to stop them from getting baron, didn't work. GG.

13/8/12 Brand Mid vs Ahri. Pretty even overall, I gained a lead in kills on her but after a few team fights for drag she caught up and passed me. Wouldn't have happened had Gnar and jax not fed Irelia and Xin. Our Jax kept engaging 3v5 and not waiting for the carries. Alistar/gnar/jax can't kill all 5 of their team.

7/8/4 Wu vs Nasus top. Killed Nasus a few times early on, I kept having to go mid after veigar counter picked himself and our bot lost. I had requested a Yi and a vayne ban at start. Neither got banned, both got picked by enemy team and the wrong champions were picked to fight them.

I did make mistakes myself, a few overextensions or trying to save someone who wasn't savable. Happens. But so many games that were winnable or where I was winning lane ended up as a lose due to bad decisions/afkers/trolls..ect by team mates. So I feel that the current ranking system that doesn't allow me to queue with more than one other friend to ensure proper communication, yet punishes me if someone else makes a mistake that loses games, is rather unfair. I'm not sure exactly who Starcraft 2s ranking system works, however I know when I would queue with friends and we'd all play the same games, we could end up in completely different rankings based on our personal performance in game. This ensured that even if we lost and our ranking would be effected, it was some how calculated per person and not as a mass punishment. Likewise, wins created personal ranking scores. This encourages greater personal effort I think in each player than people being punished for others mistakes.

I don't want to come off as arrogant, as I know I make mistakes. I'm not perfect. If i recorded game play I could probably improve myself further. However I do notice in most games played losses are caused by others and would just like feed back or opinions on the MMR system. Agree, disagree? I left out names for a reason, please comment accordingly.

TLDR: I think Riot needs a better match making system that calculates LP gain/loss based on personal score than team win/loss. As I feel being punished for others mistakes (Though I do make my own) is pretty silly. Or allow for more than just duo queue, there are a lot of times I'll have a group of 4 ready to go but lacking 1 person for 5v5, and now we can't play together in ranked due to grouping restrictions. Current MMR system that focuses on whether your team won or losses creates a negative/toxic community that is more likely to encourage insults and cause issues.

No, being a jerk ensures that. Nothing else.
