Old Chalice vs New Chalice

I get Riot's reasoning behind the chalice change. But it feels alot like a nerf, And way too much of one at that. Im writing this at 4:15 in the morning, working off nothing but Dr.Pepper, but hear me out.

Old Chalice, rewarded you staying close to your team and keep them filled up. Let's take SorakaSoraka for instance. Using Soraka Soraka because pretty much everybody has encountered the goat-lady in some matchup or another, and her kit is kinda basic.

Built Frostfangitem 3098 , Chaliceitem 3028 , and sightstoneitem 2049 , with runes maybe 1K hp, within a margin of about 100. now, without any other mana regen items, you could hit around 7-8 MPR (Which is about the MP cost of her heal with it's cooldown w/o runes and masteries taken into account. I think.) during laning, and HPR of about 6, but only with the passive up. Now, SorakaSoraka, being SorakaSoraka, just Q's back her health, and gets the mana regen constantly, and that lets her ADC farm, and lets her maintain pressure on the enemy. Which is her JOB. With old chalice, a decent Soraka could keep her ADC stocked up, with everything ready to go, maybe 80-90% of the time. A bit strong, but okay.

New Chalice, same build. Maybe 5-6 MPR, and HP Regen at 4-5, making the resource war that is botlane that much un-comfortable. esp because the ADC might not be stocked up at the same rate, due to the lack of those few points of regen. Making the botlane more open to ganks, more often, and not just due to assassin "changes" which isn't helping. At all.

Now, let's talk lategame, item 3092 item 3065 item 3050 item 3083 item 3174 item 3504 like, your team is at the gates, and the enemyVarus has been throwing more Q's than uhm... Some really bad professional team. take your pick. Your team isn't looking their best, maybe 75% capacity, and you're saving mana for R, which could be a game changer, but you forget all that when a Malphite slams into your team at mach 5 and you heal the squishy Annie but then your jg dives and get's merkt by Diana slamming a blade into his bug face, you press R, and hear that dreaded, "out of mana" sound. if there is one, i dunno. But, as a result, the enemy team wiped yours, and still has 3 up. They're knocking at the gates."GG" the jungler calls. [#ThisIsBronzeImTalkingAbout #IHaven'tBeenInThisExactSituation] insert inspirational speech, and a teamwipe later, whichever way it goes, somebody lost. But anyways, with old chalice, maybe your jg wouldn't have died, maybe you would've had enough mana to press that delicious R button.

Anyways, basically, just revert chalice, or add a new item that has it's affect. please. just last match i kept running out of mana in a defense seige and i had to back 2-3 times in about 3 minutes, and it felt really bad that i couldn't be there, because i didn't have enough mana to keep my team alive.

I agree. It got gutted so hard when they removed the mana regen benefit.

Just to note, i don't really ever post on the forums, but please, don't just say something, then give no reasoning to why you said it.

Talisman is better than frostqueens on soraka. Try that next game.

Thing is old chalice is utterly obsolete now.

You're free to voice your opinions, but saying something is obsolete and giving no reason is like saying, "Your build sucks." then not giving any reason or advice. Please, share why you think Old chalice is obsolete.

Simple, there are better options for a midlaner in terms of damage, AP, CDR, better build path, gives more mana and one of the best items for in lane sustain is item 3802.

Soraka in particularly uses item 3069 item 2302 which focuses on health regen and mana regen which I think is generally a better choice over the spellthief build path where she isn't quite that AP reliant.

I do normally build Talisman, but i usually do off-meta-ish stuff, Like Rylai's Sona support, and i hadn't checked any soraka builds recently, forgive my mistake.

But i'm not talking about it like a midlaner item, im talking about it like a support item. Not once did i mention midlaners, outside of my Scenario.
