Ok so some kid goes, "I have to eat dinner in 20mins, so ill have to afk if we can't finish by then." And so I dodged, because I'm not having an afk in a ranked game. You know what I mean? Now I get penalized for helping out the other 3 people on my team. Fair? I guess you can say it was my fault, but what if Riot added an option to dodge if 4/5 people say yes to it? and no one gets penalized. What do you guys think?
Riot could implement a dodge system similiar to the reroll system in ARAM. You'd have to play games to get it back, and could only hold on to one at a time (no stockpiling). You're allowed to use it at anytime outside of promotion series.
The issue is anytime you give people a free out in Ranked, it just makes champ select so much worse. I don't know if you were around when Riot made it so the only penalty for dodging was time, but the trolling in champ select was horrible, even worse than it is now. Trust me, free dodging is not the solution.
Implement a Vote Dodge system in all draft modes, but do not allow premade groups of 4 people (draft pick normals) to participate in it due to possible abuse.
4/5 people in the queue must agree to dodge, BUT a reason must be given similar to the way a reason must be selected when reporting someone, AND the chat log of the champion select is immediately screened for keywords that match the reason selected
For example: You queue into a match. Last pick calls mid, but 2nd pick wants mid and locks in. Last pick refuses to accept pick order, and decides to troll and lock in for mid anyway. One player activates the Dodge Vote and the champion select timer pauses while the 3 other players accept the vote, the initiator selects the reason for dodging (in this case something along the lines of "Uncooperative teammate" or "Player Failing to Adhere to Game Rules"), and the chat logs are screened. The screening would detect where the last pick player called mid, but a higher pick called and therefore, given the proper description in the reason select, would rule in favor of the vote. Even if the last pick did not announce his intention to troll and go mid in chat so as to avoid the chat screen detection, the chat screen would detect the pick order discrepancy.
Obviously this is only one example, and would take quite a bit of tweaking. This specific example would help to enforce pick order, and the system as a whole would promote positive behavior in champion select and therefore throughout the entire game. It would also assist a team unfortunate enough to come across a troll or other negative player.
The best part about this system of selecting a reason AND having a chat screen is that the Dodge Vote could not be abused in the event your team's composition is inferior to your enemy's, as this would not be an option for dodging and the chat screen ensures any selected reason is accurate.

TBH, some people make up that kind of excuses just to make other people dodge for him. Don't fall for it.

I don't see the harm in dodging in champ select anyway. It might be annoying, but if someone has any reason whatsoever, even if its selfish like they didn't get the champ and lane they wanted, id rather not play with them anyway because they either are going to feed, afk, or just have a poor attitude/performance. So i am all for the voting system during champ select.

That's extremely exploitable. If the other team has a better comp in the end, everyone just forces a dodge. Even if you block free dodges at full champ selection, you could still dodge at 4, or even 3.
Cases like yours definitely hurt someone doing a good deed, but you're the outlier. For the most part, people dodge for reasons they shouldn't be rewarded for dodging for. The 5 minute timer and -3 lp is a pretty tame punishment for dodging.
What? Last time I checked, the penalty for dodging was being locked from matchmaking for 5:00 min. Do you lose LP, too? If so, that's pretty dumb. Dodging is only a minor inconvenience for everyone else.
You realize people will just use it to dodge games that look unfavorable. If I see the enemy with a team much stronger than mine, ill convince my team that we should dodge.
I guess they could make it so dodging can only happen before banning phase, but that wont 100% solve the problem you ran into (what if they wait to tell youre theyre gonna troll after ban phase). I know it sucks but I really cant see a system that cant be exploited being implemented.
Voting about it would be difficult given people nowadays. For example, yesterday I joined a team with 4 other people. Based on pick order, the 2nd guy said he was going mid and the 4th guy also wanted mid. Then the first guy says to let the 4th guy mid or else he'd go mid. In the end, the 2nd guy did get mid but he also said he was gonna feed hard while everyone else was being really rude to each other. I wasn't having any of it so I dodged and just had to wait 4 minutes in order to join another game. In a case like that, where people are purposely being rude to one another and have their heads too far up their asses to listen, no one is gonna want to vote for dodging. They'll want to see the game through just for their own selfish reasons.
While I disagree with the fact that some one who dodges for a good reason gets penalized, I also believe that there needs to be a really good system in place to ensure everyone gets what they want. The idea of a voting system is a bit flawed and doesn't take into consideration people's disgusting little natures but it's a start so hopefully we can get something good.
you can troll the current system really hard if you're bored. win to promos then continually dodge until your at 0 lp. rinse and repeat and then you can make people mad " WHY THIS PLAT II IN MY DIAMOND GAME WTF IM SO MAD AND FAT"
Idea has been tossed around a lot but the general cop out is "it can be abused".
Main reason why we will never have anything we ask for when it comes to trolls or afks and the general bullshit it ranked. Anything and everything you think of will be shot down with "it can be abused".

I just thought of how it could be abused: troll duos. If it needs to be a 4-1 vote to dodge, a troll duo would be able to swing that in favor of playing the game, and successfully troll. Now, I don't know how common a trolling duo is, but this is a way the voting could become useless.

So i think a "vote Dodge" is needed, when the whole team agrees, it is a strategy... i believe there is nothing wrong on going with a specific strategy.
