Allow players to join games where other players have left

edit: (a better title might be: "Allow players to join games someone never connected to")

If there was a specific option for (Look for a game you can join in place of leaver) I'm sure there will be no shortage of games, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be interested in checking for teams that need help.

Either the leaver buster system is too lenient or maybe it's just the holidays, but there are a lot of 4v5 games going down.

Give people the chance to be helpful and they will.

Wait for three minutes or five maybe, or maybe let the team vote to see if they should open the slot or not.

That;s a great idea, reward systems. Icons, bonus IP. Maybe even something silly like 1 RP per game. People would eat it up.

The reason why there are a lot of 4v5's is because Riot's having server issues where people are straight-up unable to connect.

And no, I'd rather not get in-progress games thank you very much. People will only leave games that they are losing (why would you leave one you're winning), which will only create more rage at their time in queue being wasted.

nah you see its a button for those of us immune to rage. anyone not interested has absolutely no reason to click the button.

it's just choice.

coming into a game and totally saving it? that sounds like fun to me

And put them into a game where they're coming it at whatever level the person was at when they left or disconnected, most likely at level 1 given Riot's rash of server issues these past few months, and expect them to try and be able to meaningfully contribute when the laning phases are over, when they can't jungle at low level anymore, and when the match might already be too far gone to be saved?

Not really the best idea.

Also consider how many times a system like this would put someone into a losing match within minutes of when it's going to end. They're now registered as having a loss on their record when they did nothing to illicit that loss. Riot's already bad about giving out loss prevented even when there's one or two people gone for an entire match, let alone when you have someone who connects back in at the last moment.

why would you put them in at level 1? The character has been selected, the levels have been earned, the money has been rolling in. You put them in in those shoes, of course. Just as if the player reconnected, but it's not them, it's someone willing to take over.

Again, it's choice. anyone who's not interested in playing and only wants to win is never going to use the option; it's not meant for them. It's meant for people like me who enjoy playing, enjoy working with others, and when possible helping out. If you get in, the game ends, you start again. I don't get angry when I lose 30 seconds load time for connecting.

There would probably be no queue anyway given the state of things, only a yes or no or at worst "Continue to wait? (Players currently waiting to help: 4)" etc. which you could cancel. You wouldn't have to wait for others to load either, it's already in progress, it's only you who needs to load. A player with an SSD system could be in and playing in seconds.
