won a ranked game still lost 19 LP. wtf?!

i was playing a game when 5 min into it my power went out. it took a long time to get back into the game but i didn't want to let my team down so i sat there trying everything i could to get back ASAP for the sake of everyone else playing. my team was a lot better than the people we were up against but they weren't good enough to win a 4v5. once i got back into the game and leveled up a little it was enough to tilt the balance of power and we won.... and i still lost 19 LP. how is this a good policy? if i knew i was going to lose 19 LP no matter what i'm not sure i would have been motivated to get back into the game.

riot s basically encouraging people to stay afk with this system

If you are marked as afk (and I don't know how long the timer is), you get a loss regardless (because you weren't there helping the team).

that sort of explains why but its not very encouraging. i think a lot of people would just walk away from the game if they knew they were going to lose LP no matter what.
