For the role selector to exist at all, this is necessary to prevent queue times from going crazy, the only other option would be to make the roles so indistinct that no one cares what role they get to begin with.

The people who cry about having to support should suck it up and remember this is a team game and it benefits them to understand a support's perspective. In a worst-case scenario you would only have a 20% chance of being forced onto support and if they are so dead-set against having to take turns 20% of the time then they should seriously get out of this game.

I can live with it.

Autofill is like a bitter medicine. Of course no one wants to take it, but it does make things better.

And besides, I have been playing for 5 seasons at the mercy of random-pickorder assigning me to which roles I am allowed to play.

The people who cry "hurrdurr I cannot support!" can either git gud or f* off.

I feel fine with it. It annoys me how much people bitch about not being allowed to two trick in ranked when not too long ago ranked was dictated by pick order and you had to "pref" a role. Learn to play the rest of the roles, one or two tricking to your rank is the exact reason you hate autofill, because once you have to play an off role all of sudden your skill isn't what you thought it was.

Doesn't really affect me as I will play just about any role.

I suspect that their might have been a feedback loop when Riot tried to implement, auto fill protection. Since more people are protected, more people are needed to fill the gaps. That in mind, it should promote support/fill options a little bit, simply to get that protection, so it seems like a creative solution. That in mind, I keep hearing stories about people losing that protection just because someone dodged. And that is kinda problematic, cause people are getting cheated out of the system when that happens.

The other issue is that Riot had separated Flex Q from Solo/Duo. Dividing the player base like that, is probably the other reason why Auto fill is enabled.
