Why so many golds and plats?

Hi, im level 29 and I'm hating this game more and more everyday. It seems like the more I play all I see is plats and golds. I just got out of a game where their team was 3 golds and 2 plats, while my team was 3 unranks 1 other under 30 and 2 diamonds. Why is this happening? My friends are ranked bronze and they wont play with me cause when they do they hate it. I cant have fun going 0/14 with salty teammates. I play safe and still die. Not sure what to do.

Normal MMR has nothing to do with ranked MMR. If a Diamond guy stopped playing normals when he was a Bronzie, his normal MMR would still be Bronze level MMR.

Its for this reason I believe in testing strats and builds in ranked. Something that works in normals may not work in ranked because of the vast difference in quality of team mates.

Ok, I might be wrong but I honestly believe your normal MMR, BEFORE YOU PLAY ANY RANKED, affects the people you play against in your first promo games, which in turn affects how high you can be placed. For example, on this account, I've been silver forever, since I was TERRIBLE when I started playing ranked in season 2 and have never played enough games to climb on here (I constantly fought unranked people in normals then was placed bronze). On my "smurf" ( is it really smurfing If my main account is ranked lower LOL) however, I had yet to even play ranked, but was facing golds and plats in normals, I was then placed silver 1 after going only 4-6. This really makes no sense unless normal MMR affect it BEFORE you play ranked at all.

Edited cause I didn't reply to you... oops.

I guess if I'm completely wrong, At least you have experience fighting actual skilled LoL players, there more to learn there anyways, so either way you current opponents WILL affected your ranked placements because you will be more skilled from practicing against skilled opponents.

I think a fresh account starts around Silver MMR the first time you do placements. By the time you finish your 10 matches, it should place you based on your MMR at that point which itself is based on how much you win or lose and the MMR of the teams you went against.

Hey dude, believe it or not this is a great sign, it means you have a high-ish normal MMR, meaning when you finally get into ranked you will most likely have a good starting place (hopefully you just skip bronze altogether)
