With Dfg gone there is a void left for a 120 Ap item. Have been seeing a lot of Ap mids forced to buy QSS so they can last longer against cc in a team fight, i.e. WW ult. Since they can no longer burst 100 to 0 they have to do prolonged dmg.

Enter Quick Silver Scepter builds from QSS and Needlessly large rod. So 1250g plus 1600g equals 2850, add 850g to upgrade item to QS scepter. For a combined cost of 3700g comparable to its Ad counterpart mercurial scimitar 3700g.

Stats: 120 Ap ,35 Mr , Same unique active: Unique - Quicksilver: Removes all debuffs, and if your champion is melee, also grants +50% bonus Movement Speed for 1 second (90 second cooldown).

  1. Gives build option for ap mids who grab QSS
  2. Gives MR. Since the patch, mid laners have been grabbing morellonomicon over athenes b/c of better mana regen. A laner who builds morrelo and then quick silver scepter will not lose out on the much needed MR for the laning phase.

Ap assassins have been nerfed we need a new item to get back in the game. If we cant burst gives us more surviability so 1 morgana binding doesn't spell our doom. Share your thoughts below , happy gaming.

AP's have hourglass. Although not the same, they're both overall the "ultimate defense" for their build types.

I would however be OK with a MR/HP item that built out of it.

You make a solid point about hourglass but I feel its used more offensively to get back the cool downs to reengage. An alt to banshee as a def Mr/Hp item would be nice too, but generally you get your defensive MR item much later in the game. Athenes worked really well for that early 20 mr but after the mana nerf no one builds it so you're missing out on the early-midgame mr.

While zhonya you can wait out the cc if you get caught out but chances are if you not near your team you will get killed regardless. With this you can evade one cc.

Just in terms of build options if you want defense but don't need the Armour on zhonya you can opt out for MR and still get the ap you need without committing to a defensive item early. Their adc is underfed but their apc is a threat. At least this way you aren't a whole dmg item behind by getting early banshee.

Don't make the active just melee.

Ap champs with range are already more hard to kill bc they don't have to go deep in the back lines of the enemy team like a fizz or alkali. With range kiting is easier. Usually as a xerath you're in back line.
