Cass main thoughts on her nerfs

Hi boards people,

I'm a dia 3 cass main with around 250 games on her of mostly ranked and normals. No, of course I'm not as good as the pros but I'd like to share my thoughts on the Cassiopeia PBE nerfs and why I think riot is going the wrong way about them. Of course people may write this off as me just wanting my champion to not be nerfed, but I do agree she does need nerfs.

So the problem I personally see is that Cass has a pretty strong early game accompanied with a very very strong late game. While she can be easily shut down by significant jungle pressure or focus fire the main problem I see is her oppressive laning, whilst not as strong as LeBlanc's laning (imo) in the hands of a master Cassio is not going to lose lane often. The cause of her lane is the severe lack of a trading window. Most cassio's will harass with Q and hold W in reserve in case they miss Q and the enemy goes all in, using the W to keep the enemy poisoned. Because of this it is very hard to trade back onto Cass because you cannot win an extended trade with her and due to her Q speed up and W slow you will take a lot of damage while backing off. Riot's solution to this is to nerf her heal and mana return on E to shit. This combined with the mastery nerfs for mana hungry mids is going to hit Cass really hard. I don't think just destroying her stats is the way to nerf her, while it is hard to balance a champion like Cassio I think instead more counterplay should be added. Some examples would be:

Higher base cooldown on her Q so she can't harass quite as frequently and punishes her more for missing it Perhaps lower initial radius on W or slower projectile so it's easier to dodge but rewards good skillshots Nerf base movement speed so she is more reliant on landing Q's to position (And makes it harder to chase down trades in lane and avoid harass)

While these are just some ideas and I doubt they'll be seen by Riot, I don't think nerfing Cassio's stats into the ground is the right way to balance her and instead some thought should be given to creating more opportunities for Cassio to be exploited for mistakes But rewarding her for good play.
