Even if this was based on the spring split when has maokai been more contested than Poppy? If they were doing a top laner Poppy or nautilus should have gotten it.
they picked a champion who was popular for like 3 weeks... over Lucian who was popular all year and Azir and Karma who were pick bans a good chunk of the summer...

To be fair, maokai was played a lot before the cd on his Q got nerfed. He dictated team comps..
I bet you the only reason they release unpopular victorious skins is so they can earn more money on skins made for more popular champions. Don't forget in the end of the day riot is just a scummy business out for our money c:
Well it's a free skin. Will I play it? No, like I don't play Sivir either. Cause I play tank supports or a midlane champion, which both lack a victorious skin (don't come with Morgana pls, she's more of a support for 2-3 seasons now)

I love how people think is garbage and shouldn't deserve the skin even though he has been a prominent pick for quite a while now. He still isn't bad. It's just that he isn't dictating games with an organized team anymore.

better than one of those champs weve seen over and over and over again every game throughout the season. i understand that theyre usually giving it to champions who have been op in competitive play for a long time.
but first of all, its usually always the same champions, and second they get the team skins for the winning team at worlds.
i had hoped for victorious darius after he was played so successful at the last worlds, but maokai is a nice too.

Still can't believe they picked Maokai. So many meta prevalent champions this year and they choose the tree that was played a lot for maybe 2 or 3 months.
