Opinion: B vs Walking

League of Legends Match History

I was Tryndamere in one game. My team started at top right, had LeBlanc, Caitlyn, Blitzcrank, and Garen, while the other team had Sona, Yasuo, Teemo, Thresh, and Varus.

During a team fight near the river, my health was low, so I used R and went to the nearest bush (right behind our mid turret). Meanwhile the fight moved down the river towards the dragon. At that point, since the fight was moving away, I decided to B. (You can see my position in the Champion Kills section of the match history. Varus got that kill)

Seven seconds later, Caitlyn ran towards me with the whole enemy team behind her from the river. At that point I knew she was not going to make it. They have a fed Sona for movement speed and all. Anyhow while I was telling her to not to come my way (1 second left) and make a right towards the bot lane instead, she lured the whole team directly into my bush, and I died with 0.5 seconds left in the countdown.

According to Caitlyn, that was on me because "I was B-ing too close to the fight" and "I should have walked back to base". Meanwhile I was certain Caitlyn would've died regardless of which route to take and she should've gone the other direction to cut losses. (Caitlyn was the other death by Varus next to my bush).

It sounds like it must have been a pretty close call on either end but the blame can't be put on one person. Backing at a place where the enemy can potentially cancel your recall is always risky. However, assuming Cait was 100% dead it would have been better to sacrifice herself for the sake of another champion.

tldr its really a combination of mistakes from the both of you

I saw the fight moving away, which is why I decided to back. From the countdown timer, I would've backed successfully had Caitlyn not done that. And I was certain Caitlyn was 100% dead, since even though she decided to take the best route and lure the enemies to me, she still died not too far from me. This might sound like hindsight bias, but Caitlyn doesn't have much of an escape when the whole team was after her.

Assuming ideal play on the part of your teammates can sometimes be a personal mistake.

Well it is more like the whole time I was shouting "NOT THIS WAY NOT THIS WAY" over VOIP.

Oh if you were on voice comms with the cait and they didn't listen, than in that case I'd say the blame is pretty much all on cait, since you should be able to trust your comm buddies.

Arguably some blame for queuing with people who don't listen. (If you were saying that on comms but cait wasn't actually there and it was a random cait, then my initial point of having faith in teammates can be a mistake remains.)

VOIP with just Caitlyn. Otherwise I'd understand since you don't really look at the map much when you're running away.

BTW only asking this because Caitlyn got really defensive when I said my death was on her. Said I was blaming her for my mistakes.

Yeah I agree with this. If you clearly hear your friend saying "Don't go towards me!" and you end up doing it anyway, it's their fault. If I heard it last second, I would have just went a different way or if I can't, go back towards the enemy team.

I wouldn't trust that person if they blamed you OP for your mistakes. He or she sounds stubborn. He or she could change after playing together for a while though.
