Teemo Jungle

Not sure if this is the appropriate board, but didnt want to post this in GD and get tore a new one for "trolling with satan".

But anyhow, im trying to make Teemo Jungle a thing. I like playing "things that others consider hard/bad" and prove them wrong. I also like not using flash or ghost (cause im not a filthy casual) to make it "harder" for me, it helps my decision making. I.E.: Can i go into this fight and get out alive? Im currently at a 61% win rate with 45 games played, i know its not much, but it would be higher if i didnt have people AFKing when they died in lane 2 times from their own faults 5 minutes into the game.

So for Teemo jungle, theres several build paths you can go through with the little guy. But for most, my masteries and runes stay the same.

Runes: Marks: 9x Attackspeed. Seals: 9x Flat Armor. Glyphs: 4x Flat AP, 5x MR scaling. Quinns: 3x Flat AP

Masetries- 22-5-3 Getting all that damage in as possible. That extra movespeed helps you kite and run in your jungle faster in the early stages.

Heres some example builds, but of course builds can change during game.

Traditional AP Teemo. item 3716 item 3115 item 3020 item 3151 item 3023 item 3157 May not seem like much, but with the 40% cdr, you can spam shroom the entire map, and with Torment of course, thats a decent chunk of HP. Why Twin shadows? Well most junglers have something to intiate with, teemo jungle, is all about catching people out. Someone hits your shrooms nearby? Hit twin shadows to make sure they stay slowed, and are revealed for your team to catch up.

HP% Teemo. True Satan. item 3718 item 3153 item 3020 item 3151 item 3157 item 3001 This build may seem laughable and unbalanced. But with teemo, its terror. Ive had a ton of success building bork AND torment on teemo. Plus having the devourer for infinite stacks helps out your late game damage. Not to mention with Bork, you can solo dragon early on if you rush it, very easily.

AD Teemo. item 3718 item 3111 item 3153 item 3143 item 3085 item 3022 This one im still playing with. But it all revolves around the Hurricane. The Hurricane will apply your AD obviously, the Devourer damage + stacks, the bork on hit HP %, plus the Frozen Mallet debuff to slow EVERYONE all at once, its great in the middle of a team fight doing hp %, ad AND ap damage, plus slowing them, and lifestealing all at once.

Tankmo. item 3717 item 3111 item 3143 item 3102 item 3153 item 3075 / item 3157 This build, is by far my favorite. People will be all over you. "Kill teemo".... Jokes on them half way through the fight they notice your tankmo. EVERYONE especially in low elo, hates teemo, and will focus you no matter what, so get in the middle of a fight, throw your bork and Q on their carry, and aggervate the piss outa them. Take the HG if they got champs such as LB/Brand/Vi so you can hourglass through it and stay safe. Take Thorn if your vs champs such as Yi or Tryn. Its a troll build, but it works wonders if you can piss off the enemy team enough to focus you.

Anyhow, this is how im doing with him so far. Let me know your thoughts, or what you would do differently (other than saying no to teemo lol).

----------EDIT----------

So few things i figured i'd try.

Switch up runes, Hybrid Marks with AS quinns, or Lifesteal Quinns with AS marks. I like the AS so i can get the smite buff from golem, and then proceed to stun lock + blind the red buff and blue buff, to take minimal damage.

Find a few "Better optimized builds" Such as subbing in a Void Staff. I never really figured (its obvious but im too close minded to see it) that the HP % items do get a massive reduction on resistance, so they need PEN to work. So i need to add in LW/BC/Void staff into those builds, such as the following for "improved"? builds.

AP- item 3708 item 3151 item 3020 item 3135 item 3157 item 3027 or item 3023

Hp% - item 3718 item 3153 item 3151 item 3020 item 3135 item 3071 ? Weird build not too sure.

AD/Brute- item 3717 item 3085 item 3071 item 3153 item 3111 item 3143

Also, i do realize, that teemo is "not that great for ganking, or team fights".

But in truth, its all situational, or as someone said below, the stars have to align for you to pick teemo jungle as a good pick, with a CC mid, tanky top, and a tanky support. But in truth, thats the meta, Assassin mid mostly, with tanky or CC whore supports (annie, naut, morg, leona, thresh), and a brute-ish top.

Teemo excels at map control. With some CDR and the blue buff (some mids dont need it anymore), you can easily drop 10-15 shrooms around the baron and or dragon pit. Control their jungle if you get ahead, split push with their jungle shroomed, giving you a safe way to get out, and easily let your team catch someone out trying to come after you. Even better, if the enemy team has a dumb carry who likes to lead the pack and set off your shrooms, they will be even easier to kill, or their team will spend more time trying to sweep your shrooms, than grouping, letting you maneuver around them for easy pick offs.

I guess you could say, you would have to be skilled to do it, and have a great team to communicate with, and wouldnt suggest it for most solo Q situations. I tend to tell a joke, lighten up the mood, see how everyone is, if their chatty and seem cool, ill do teemo jungle and reassure them im not trolling, and we do well. If their all silent types who pick riven top (COUGH FUCKING WHORE), ill just stay with Noc or Xin.

For your Traditional build I would try this: item 3724 item 3151 item 3020 item 3135 item 3089 item 3157

This is a build that focuses on the power of your shrooms and assassination potential. I dropped the Twin Shadows for a Deathcap to emphasize that assassination damage, and I dropped the Nashors because you're already getting 20% CDR from Magus and this build is more about hitting hard than hitting fast. Your Q + Auto + Ignite will do massive damage and you can then run away while they die, and if they hit a shroom it's certain death if you're nearby to follow up. I think Trailblazer is the important enchantment here because you'll need help with the clear since you aren't building Nashors, and you have no natural form of mana regen.

For your %HP build it's hard to say. You have it branching into both physical as well as magic damage. I would say it should be based on your style of play, but you should definitely switch the Abyssal scepter out for a pen item. Void probably the better choice.

On your AD teemo build I would switch the Frozen mallet for the Last Whisper. You already have a lot of sticking power with your W and the BotRK active so the slow on mallet is unnecessary overkill.

I created a smurf just so I can spam teemo jungle in ranked and not give a shit about my rank hahaha. Cant wait till I hit lvl 30 and summoners rift will know true terror with ap assassin jungle teemo.

Love the idea as I love Teemo, but I don't see him being as useful as other junglers and your win rate with other junglers kinda proves that point.

Earl Eulrich2 votes

he´s an incredible strong control-jungler, his ult is just outright broken when you roam around constantly. just donßt pick him in a teamfight-comp, but for pick-comps he´s godtier.

I just personally dislike Teemo Jungle because Teemo's "ganks" are just "run right at them and dart once. No CC and minimal burst with only an MS boost to ambush people just doesn't work for me as a ganker.

That and the Teemo jungles I've seen all performed horribly.

You know that his ganks, with his W, are just as good as Udyr, noc, shyvana, WW, Skarner, and so on right?

Its all about getting behind them, and with the red buff + red smite + e + ignite if your like me.

You can nearly drop someone ina matter of two seconds from full HP, ive done it several times bot lane.

And for whoever says teemo isnt good in team fights..

Tryn luring a team into a minefield in the jungle, popping 3-5 shrooms. Then you Q their ADC for half their hp, and your HP% shrooms are shredding their tanks hp away. Then if your like me, youll be the kind that goes behind their back line, and makes their team turn their attention towards you, forcing them to attack you, giving yuor other carries, free reign on them.

Fellow Teemo jungler before they nerfed the soft resets of jungle monsters here, hi.

Teemo's ganks are lacking. All of those examples you listed have a way of keeping the enemy in place to make the gank effective. Teemo has great burst if he's ahead and your teammate can capitalize on it with their own CC, but more times than not you'll be the one initiating and walking away with no kills.

Teemo jungle requires the stars to align in team comp. Does your team have 2-3 tanks and a mid/top with CC to help with your initiation? Does the enemy jungler suffer early on? Then pick Teemo. If none of these happen you are just a burden for your team late game, as I guarentee you no matter how fun he is to play and play with, they would have preferred a stronger jungle pick.

Rustling Bush1 votes

you know, when you make it harder for yourself, your making harder for your team and to me thats no beuno. and ive seen a teemo in the jungle, he can't gank well, he gets easily out farmed, even if you like roaming other enemy jungle using stealth Evelynn Shaco do it infinitely better. if your looking to make things harder on yourself you shouldn't play a team game.

None of your builds have any penetration outside of the sorc shoes + Liandry's variants. Keep in mind that the % hp passives from both Liandrys as well as BotRK are reduced heavily by resistances.

You should consider subbing out an item for Void Staff or Last Whisper in every one, except Tankmo obviously.

Ah good feed back, your right. Im only in Silver atm, i think my actual skill if i could get outa these promotions with the AFKs, would land me in low gold, i think thats about as high as i could go.

But anyway, what items would you sub out? Or better yet, would you post a few builds on each variation?

In order for Teemo jungle to become mainstream, he has to fill one of the core roles for a jugler. Either: Tank/Bruiser (and/or) Peel Assassin

Teemo as a tank/bruiser is not the most viable, his kit just isn't suited well for this. Teemo as a peeler doesn't work that well either - all he has is his blind and his shroom slow, which work better when he's full ap anyway. Teemo has the capability to be an assassin, in terms of his capabilities it's the most viable of the options. It is a little risky, but very playable (although you will need to make sure like with any assassin jungles that you have other chunkies on the team).

Liandry's: This item is mostly just a habit left over from when it used to be good on Teemo. However, it could be very useful for counter jungling or base/objectives/jungle control. Normally I wouldn't go this item on Teemo, but it has a lot of potential for him on as a jungler than as a laner.

Tank Buster Teemo(?): If your team has enough cc as it is, and you are worried about enemy tanks, going a build based around tank killing (bork, etc.) could be viable (though your allies may hate you for it....then again they may hate you for anything you do with Teemo jungle).

Split Pusher Teemo: This is something that I personally love to do with Teemo. He still has his bursting/shrooming style to him, but he can eat towers. Basically all you have to do is get a sheen item and attack speed (works ad or ap ap best imo). So for ap you'd be getting lich bane and nashors as base items and get a ton of ap (increases the dmg of both those items the more ap you get). As ad you'd probably get a tri force and a wits/bork/zephr as base items.

*Note: I am not saying that jungle Teemo is below par, it definitely has potential.

*Note2: Builds that involve using Teemo in non-optimal ways are perfectly fine for having fun (but will not work well in competitive play and therefore, will not become mainstream).

i really prefer hybridpen marks and as quints, but whatever works for you. also, you should always get a voidstaff, it´s just the most cost-efficient dmg item there is.

Teemo can't jungle, but you can gank the enemy jungler and kill him. Go smite, ignite. Camp lanes. And this will work only with laners that can assist you with ganks. IF you have pantheon, taric etc, teemo can gank, if you have fiora, teemo can't, because you don't have hard cc. Also if you don't go 40% cdr and liandry with teemo, you will be useless lategame.

This...

Is completely not true all around. Theres people who got to Master rank with Teemo only, i got a friend on my list, who has two accounts, one in diamond 1, another in diamond 3, and hes a teemo main, mid, top, supp, and does not use flash like i do... Teemo is a great champ all around, and you dont need 40% cdr on teemo to be effective with shrooms. Its better to take Magic pen over CDR, its better to hit hard, than to hit often. At least with shrooms...

Teemo can easily jungle, you can Q, and kite away and take 0 damage, especially if you have golem buff....

Teemo CAN gank just as well as anyone else, yes he has no hard CC, but he can do plenty of damage, and with him being ranged all around + his W, he can close the distance you do with Flash, especially early on since you wont have boots. All you gota do (lets say your blue side) is go through the enemys back jungle and go behind them, their fucked.

Also, anyone whos playing to win, (haha wouldnt go teemo anyway), wouldnt picka CC-less jungler, with a CC-less lane.... O wait. People already go Yi jungle when theres a Fiora top.

If I were a better Teemo, I'd try it. Nothing wrong with have another pick in your back pocket. But here's a question, when you pick Teemo jungle in general? If you were to (already have?) brought this into ranked, what kind of team would a jungle Teemo be best on? Or if this is a better question, when would you pick each build for jungle Teemo?

I agree with other posters that Teemo isn't a great jungler. But that doesn't mean he should never jungle. Sometimes a "troll" pick is what the team needs. But when is that?

Well heres the way i see it.

1), its a Game, enjoy it. Play what you enjoy. I enjoy teemo, i enjoy jungle, i found a way to make it work, sure its not Vi top tier, but its not soraka shit tier.

  1. Teemo isnt made for full diving fights like Xin. Hes made for A) Assassinations, B) Setting up Counter Ganks, C) Map/Objective Control, and D) Preventing Team fights.

Whhaaaaat preventing team fights?

Yes, setting up 15 shrooms across both sides of their jungle, not aimlessly, but in the choke points, entry points, exits, buffs, etc. They WILL hit them, or spend time trying to clear them, and letting YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE AT ALL TIMES NO MATTER WHAT. They will either hit them, or clear them, letting you know where its safe to group/roam.

Best game i had was this.

Jungle: ME Teemo

Top: Darius His pull + Q + Bleed combo is great with my poison, tons of damage over time, even if they flash, we got the kill without chasing.

Mid: Fiddlesticks Fid was able to Silence, then Fear them, while i was able to position myself behind them, damaging them the whole time, plus with red buff, he was able to cast his Drain for free damage.

Bot: Braum Ashe Oh god this lane. Braum alone won it. His passive made my ganks so easy since im ranged, they couldnt escape, ever. Ashe was just able to slow them even more so they couldnt escape us. Their bot lane NEVER went into their bushes, or went past river.

The other plus sides to teemo, as i said in OP, he can have lane pressence, without even ganking. Just simply put shrooms down by your towers, lane exits/entrys by river to save your lane from ganks, or even put them in lane bushes so if the enemy laner/jungler enter, thats free harass for your laner to take advantage of. Maybe even an assist.

Alot of people try to down teemo because he cant make big LCS plays, or because he dosnt have point n click REKT cc. You have to play smart, and tactical with teemo to win. Yes it takes the stars to align with teemo to get a good team going, but when you do, oh god the amount of fun and terror you will have in that game is well worth.

djjomon1 votes

I'll definitely have to try that once I'm a bit more comfortable on Teemo. And anyone who says Teemo's easy to play needs to read your above post.

The map control/team fight prevention really interests me. I often prefer junglers who don't need to gank as much, but can control the game without stepping into lane. But Teemo's ganks seem to be better than I give him credit for.

And as for "Teemo sux not in LCS" people... let's remind them that Teemo was played once or twice last season by C9, and won both games. And this year he was played in the EU CS, also winning.

Im not saying im a master tier teemo, or even a plat level player.

Im probably mid gold at best. Im currently mid silver (and oh god the trolls, i think its cause of my name, may have to change it, even when i play proper champs in their roles, i get people who afk, i got 4 afks in the last 6 losses. Bullshit). But i'd like to think i have a pretty decent game knowledge. If you'd like to add me and chit chat about teemo, go ahead, i love discussing roles/builds with other players. I find myself setting up runes and looking for alternative methods for optimal runes.

djjomon1 votes

Whatever you are or aren't, you're a better Teemo than me. Yeah, whenever I'm on next I'll add you. I like having a deep champ pool, so I definitely want to improve on the champs I'm bad at. Currently, one of them being Teemo. I don't like the typical Teemo builds, they don't work for me right now, so I definitely would like to theory craft.

And Bronze or Master, rank doesn't concern me. I know Silver players who have extensive game knowledge, and Plats who know nothing, period.

I've done it before. After 6, I actually did what I believe Teemo was intended to do, which was set up shrooms all over the enemy jungler's jungle and then ambushed them whenever they hit a shroom. This provided enough safety to counterjungle the living Hell out of them.

Might work as a control jungler but there are two big issues. The first is that the enemy jungler gets to hit 6 w/o interference. The second is that it's a cheese strategy that won't work against skilled and/or coordinated teams even remotely as well, because it thrives in chaotic and less skilled environments, in my opinion.
