Im a Riven main that constantly gets sreamed at for playingRiven I usually ignore it but sometimes it just gets to me."Oh look at all the "skill" Riven takes"."What a fucking asshole who mains such a no skill faceroll champ"."NOOB GTH YOU DESERVE TO DIE FOR PLAYING RIVEN".Then it just really pisses me off because I spent ours to master her and even then I still have room the improve. So after being abused for mainingYasuo then quitting and moving onto Riven which also turns out to be on the flame on sight list I wanna find out why im being flamed by all these tilted bronzies.

It's because there are two types of skill involved in playing League: mechanical skill and strategic skill.

A champion can require a lot of one and almost none of the other, so people who value the opposite one will consider them to be a no-skill champion.

As someone who favours strategy over raw APM / mechanics, I'd consider a champion who can use their mechanical skill to get out of huge strategic mistakes to be a "no-skill champion". For example, I have very little respect for someone playing Lee Sin, because while he is mechanically complex, he has so many tools in his kit to escape bad situations that he needs fairly little strategic skill. That's certainly not an opinion shared by everyone, however. The other side of the coin are people who for example would consider a champion like Evelynn no-skill - she has no skillshots or complex mechanics, but needs a lot of strategic skill because she is so fragile and such a bad duellist that she will die if she makes the slightest mistake.

But the above is more about champions like your aforementioned Yasuo, or Lee Sin, or a few others. Riven is a borderline case anyway. The only real argument is that her high number of dashes lets her get out of situations that she probably shouldn't a little too easily. She needs a lot of mechanical skill, but she is still very fragile and needs a decent amount of strategic skill too.

No resources management champions are the complaint. Cause ultimately if an ability is able to be cast as riven why aren't you casting it. It's not like you can run out of Mana like the rest of us

Riven is by far anything but a "No skill champ"

Sure to play her viably takes no skill.

But to play her effectively is a different story.

She's very forgiving compared to most melees or most of the roster in general. Her mobility and shield can get her out of situations where most of the roster would just die. Being out of position as a Riven is nowhere near as dangerous as it is with other champions, but especially melees.

I don't know if that's why people throw the "no skill" card, but most super-mobile champions tend to get a lot of hate from the rest of the community that doesn't play them. Yasuo is in a similar boat and he's just as mobile as Riven, if not more.

i don't hate riven i hate the toxic asshat rivens who animation cancel with their laugh and spam mastery 24/7 throughout laning phase. Sorry if you take the flak for those kinds of people.

I hate riven. Screw her. But she does take skill to play well. All champs take skill to play well players will find any reason to hate what they can't do. I can't play her for shit. I wish I could but I can't.

Players all want their champ to be a skilled champ so they feel better about themselves. Truth... a skilled champ is one that YOU play with that has a plus win rate. Simple as that. And being ton play well against your counters. That's all that matters.

Want to know if you have skill with a champ? Simple. Play and if the other team starts flaming you while you crushing them then you are skilled.

because with riven you can - press all the buttons and maybe win or - do the fancy animation cancels and be oppressive

Because "No 'skill' champion" and "faceroll champ" and the like are phrases frequently used by people for the purpose of praising themselves in League and other games. They say their character is hard and takes a lot of skills, whatever their chosen characters are, while the other guy's champion doesn't take any skill, whatever their character is.

And that means that their losses are never their fault. Because then, you see, the reason that they got takendown is because they are playing a champ that requires skill while yours doesn't, so it's unfair and if they were playing a no-skill character like you then they wouldn't have lost the fight. Their losses are only due to their teammates and unfair, no skill characters that the other guy picked.

Like with fighting games, it's is a cliche joke. Those guys who whenever you use the right technique against them to counter what they are doing "That's a no-skill move!" or if you use a throw against them you are being "cheap" and basically just cheating.

Riven is strong when played well, and it doesn't look like she's hard to play just from laning against her or from watching other people player he. Same with yasuo. same with any mechanically difficult champion.
