I destroyed an Ekko with Tryndamere

Hey, this is for the people who seem to struggle laning against Ekko. I recently went top Tryndamere vs Ekko and I found it to be a very easy lane. I thought I would share it with the public. I'm sure this won't be the case with every single Ekko since it was only one matchup, and the fact that I'm Silver II (Meaning I'm terribad compared to a lot of people). but it's a potential counter I'm sure some would like to know!

I would basic attack the minions until I reached 100 rage and spun onto Ekko to get a basic attack or two for harassment (with the 100 rage, at least one basic attack will be a crit). This caused the certain Ekko I played against to use his dash in a defensive manner to get away from me hitting 140s at level 2. After some time, I had so much presence in the lane that Ekko would just hug the turret because as soon as he tried to last hit a minion, I would just spin toward and continue to beat the living pulp out of him. This meant I got free farm and he got almost none! Don't try to go for kills unless if you can guarantee he will die, since he still is powerful himself.

When you hit level 6 is when you can make him cry. Ekko as we all know has a pretty crazy death-defying ultimate. I think this is the main reason why Tryndamere did so well against him; Tryndamere has an even crazier death-defying ultimate! ;) I mostly dove Ekko post-6 when I knew I could kill him even if he ulted to regain hp because Tryn's ultimate lasts a lot longer than a flat amount of hp.

Just a few TL;DR tips

  1. Push or last hit minions until 100 rage.
  2. Spin towards Ekko, hit him once or twice.
  3. Don't chase Ekko because his spells are still strong and they do hurt!
  4. (Not required but recommended) Don't try to kill him until you're level 6.

Thats why u go flask mid ekko and rek squishy mages who get owned by mobile assassins. His mobility and stickiness is great at owning mages who rely on kiting and dealing damage from far. How to ekko mid:

  1. Land double q. 2. Throw W behind enemy roughly where he will try to escape(throw it way far back cuz that w has a huge delay). 3. Dash in with e while avoiding any skill shot/spells in the process. 4. Proc passive and proceed to wack the shit out of the poor mage with ur ridic movement speed and if ur lucky he will run right into the w field u set up earlier. Now if ur opponent gets stunned here i guarantee you will get a kill with ignite and a flash auto unless hes running some defensive summoner like heal/barrier. With ludens/ lichbane you can pretty much one shot any squishy below 30 percent hp with an E auto.

Ekko counters = fighters/assasins who rely on AA's for burst = Tryndamere Yasuo MasterYi Rengar Just things i've noticed, also earlycrit seems to beat his passive so I guess yasuo and trynd are good vs him

Outside of ulti Ekko has absolutely zero sustain. Anyone who can survive longer will win.

Tryndamere RNG crits every lane to win it. I was playing jungle Ekko, was heading top to gank our Trynd against a Riven, and he crit her three times in a row and got first blood before I even got there.

He was losing lane until he sacked crits to hell.

Fuck Tryndamere.
