Problems With the New Fiora Art

I want to start this by saying that I LOVE the new Fiora kit. It has a more duelist feel and it brings in a new mechanic that seems really unique and fun, so I commend the rework team for creating something awesome. The art, on the other hand, is honestly pretty bad. She looks like some over-exaggerated disney villain. My suggestion to fix her new design is to bring back her old hairstyle (because the new one honestly is shit) and to tone down the features of her face. Old Fiora had a really soft face that was fairly unique, why make it worse looking by accentuating her cheekbones so much? Look at Royal Guard Fiora. That is what her face and hair should look like (except with the pinkish-red streak on her other skins instead of that weird pale pink she has now). Thoughts?

Seriously Scruffy, can you tell us why the art team has been making hyper pointed chins in all the recent splash arts? No one likes it, there are massive amounts of complains every time regarding the faces, and they keep going through.

Edit: Just to be clear I mentioned the chin just because it's super obvious, but the entire face is bizarre. The old Fiora splashes were perfect, these new splashes for champs recently are super cartoony to the point of looking like intentionally fugly caricatures.

Also, please revert or atleast remake Katarina's splash art. I can't stress enough how much I hate that new kata splash art. On a scale of 1 to 20, definitely 20.

Her model looks worse than what it is now, they made her chin more pointed, her forehead bigger, and her face more sullen. Her headmistress skin model looks really bad when compared to the current version, her eyes are too big and her hair is not proper. She looks like a cartoon in both the splash art and the model. The model and the splash need an overhaul, and if it's too much effort to do so then leave her as is, this redesign from a visual standpoint is a downgrade to me. I'd have to agree, I kind of miss Fiora's bob cut and her more subtle facial features. I liked the pretty and graceful edge she gave off from it. She beats your ass... with style and finesse. It is a little too exaggerated for me.

I can't stress enough how much I dislike the pink stripe in her hair. Can she get good old fashioned Red back? I can't see any argument for red being a clarity issue given the number of champions (and skins) that have high amounts of red.

I just saw the ingame model update for her royal guard skin and i'm EXTREMELY disappointed... The number one reason i purchased this skin was because she didn't have thigh high boots that I found very unappealing design-wise in her original classic skin :(

You pretty much took away what made Fiora, Fiora. What attracted me to her was her confidence, her poise, her character seeming so life like in her current splash art. Now in her new splash art, she just looks like some angry chick that knows how to wield a rapier. The background is so bland and doesn't compliment her like her old splash did. You guys totally missed the mark with this one, I'm afraid.

I find the new splash art most confusing because in this banner Fiora actually resembles the old Fiora facially. Anything different looks like it could be easily explained by a change of clothes or a haircut. The actual splash art, however, makes her appear older, despite Fiora specifically being the youngest child of the Laurent family, as well as oddly red-faced, sweaty, and out of breath looking. Her chin is overly pronounced, and her cheekbones far too severe, and in general she has a far more sinister bearing to her. She almost looks like an entirely different person, as opposed to an update on the same character.

I just find it confusing why her appearance had to be so drastically changed for the rework. I'm not sure how to feel about her new kit, but I feel that her splash art is a definite decrease in quality and only barely resembles her.

Please for the love of god, something needs to be done about it. Fiora went from having one of the best aesthetics in the game to Cruella de Vil with a chin that could cut glass.

Yea I hate the new splash art. Especially since the current classic and royal guard splashes are among my favorites in the game. The new one just looks way too cartoonish.

Well, the character was already established as young and pretty good looking, so I don't really like them to take a character I already know and like, and make them someone else. Sometimes it's for the better (like Sion) but sometimes I feel it is a step back (like this one).

fiora's lore establishes her as the young heir to house laurent, where she took control of the house from her father after he dishonored them by being a cheat, as a character she is supposed to be young

I think you have no idea in what context this phrase is used in. This can descibe ANY person benath the age of forty.

Sure, that's not young for a simple woman, bot for the leader of a royal house, being maybe 35 is a young age.

"As the youngest child of House Laurent" is a line directly from her lore. I think that the use of the word "child" shows that she is probably in her 20's. Don't criticize others' ability to understand context if you can't yourself.

For 2 main reasons

She like Micajah stated has already been established as a young and good looking girl with a prideful image of herself and family yet she herself is still infatuated by cute things like a young girl (whenever she jokes she draws a teemo in the air with her sword, take that as you may, but I see it as a cute little characteristic of hers which I can't imagine this one will have)
And I personally like pretty things this is more of a personal thing,now i don't mean say that older woman aren't attractive but I personally don't see them as such and would prefer to play with the old art

And for the form of things making sense tell me how a rat and undead zombie and two ancient Egyptian demigods being in the same place makes sense to you?

Now of course I also don't mean that we should not get diversity in women by not allowing an older woman as a character just wish it was someone else since I really like her splash art

You are totally missing the point. If they made a new character that was an old woman who isn't beautiful, I would not only be fine with it, but I'd be happy to see more diversity. The problem here is that Fiora, as a character, is young and pretty. The problem is that the new art changed what was already cemented as a character.

The average retirement age for world class athletes is in their mid-thirties, after they have reached their peak physical state. That state is generally reached around the mid- to late-twenties. If she is supposedly one of the best fencers in the entire League of Legends mythos, it would be relatively safe to assume that she is younger than 30.

I'd also like to note that I don't disagree with you in preference. I would very much like more diversity in champions, especially as it pertains to their age and physical characteristics. However, in this case, I would make the argument that as an already established character with an established backstory that showcases physical prowess, she would have to be at her peak in order to fight at the level they describe (i.e., one that warrants her ability to fight on the Rift with some of the other champions).

Or are we gonna try to ignore how BA gp is even though he clearly looks to be in his 50's and swain despite being a crippled old man has been shown to be on equal footing against the young and robust jarvan.

It's only in this situation specifically that I feel a character should be young. I don't think that in order to do combat you need to be young. Your examples of GP and Swain are good at showcasing such a thing. What I'm saying is this:

Fiora as a character is obsessed with proving her skill as a duelist. As a fencer, she needs to be dexterous. Additionally, based on her backstory, her skillset is neither magical nor supernatural. She is striving to perfect her art of fencing. For such a thing to be done, for her to become the greatest duelist in all of Valoran, she would need to be at her peak physical condition, which would just so happen to be in her mid to late twenties.

I have to agree with the sentiment.

My first thought when I saw the new splash was "Holy crap, it's Cruella Deville. What happened to Fiora?"

The face is so harsh and angular, rather than the soft and beautiful face we're used to.

I don't hate the hair, but I don't like it either. I'm much more partial to the original style with the single streak.

As others have mentioned she also looks way too old. This is supposed to be someone young, early 20s ish right? I'd peg the new splash art in her mid 30s.

Again as others have said, if this were a new champion I'd be fine with all of it, but it's a pretty huge departure from the accepted age and appearance of an existing character.

Fiora went from being a young, beautiful French girl to a middle aged, grumpy Disney villain with too much makeup.

(On a more positive note I'm thrilled with the kit changes!)

This new departure into an evil lady stereotype face seem unnecessary and unfitting. Her current face has a perfect combination of snobby confidence and soft collected grace.

She never needed a model change. The new models for all her skins look terrible.

Her splash is really bad too. Her hair is ruined with the shape and color and her face looks like she just had plastic surgery. Her left leg looks so messed up and not portioned right at all..

The only problem I have with her art-wise is her head in her splash.

He hair/scalp bug me (she must have a good head to rest a drink on its so flat) Her upturned nose and the length of her philtrum make for a Disney villain-esque unattractive face to look at The lighting on her face is a bit too much, especially on her chin.

Everything else I actually like quite a bit. Her outfit and sword look much more streamlined, as if her sword and her body are one piece. It's quite amazing actually. Just look at how the arm and the sword designs mesh together:

Please riot, I understand you worked hard on this but the splash art falls so short of that teaser please fix it. Having older characters is fine but changing a young character to and old one is not okay.

I'm a Fiora main. In fact the only reason I realy play this game is because of Fiora. I own all the skins and I think they are are some of the best in the game.

Those new models look terrible. The splash looks terrible. Please keep her orignal half cape! It's the reason she looks bad ass! In fact there is no reason to change the model or the splash arts!

That new model looks like part of the Taj Mahal is mounted on her shoulder!
