Just trying out Gnar, but build orders confuse me!

Hello,

I am a main toplaner and I am trying out Gnar. Guides however are inconsistent when it comes to the offensive items. Some say brutalizer/last whisper, while others say trinity force or botrk. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?

Thanks for your help!

edit: is this even the right subforum for this? :P

don't build trinity force it costs to much, and you don't need it. For starting the game its normally depends on who if i think i can go agressive i go doran, health pot ward. If not armor/5pot or longsword 3 pot. If its a even match or your bully the lane opponent rush brutalizer. If not then build defense for whatever the lane opponent is if its armor rush randouins, if its mr rush spirit visage. Then you really just build full tank gnar does a fuck ton of damage while being tanky. And for botrk trinity i wouldn't go them unless your teams stomping and your ahead.

It should have gone in the tips and tricks forum, I think.

Gnar has good %hp damage, good ability base and high base AD scaling. Meaning he does a lot of damage without additional AD. SO penetration will benefit him well.

He doesnt have the cooldowns to get any dps out of trinity, so it would only be for burst. Gnar is not really a burst type. Dunno about BorK, He already has two %hp abbilities. You could double up on it though.

A lot of people Just go tank because his hyper does %hp damage. If you want to improve his Offensive Capabilities. I would go for a combination of AS and CDR to proc his hyper more often while giving you more spells to work with.

Try Zepher. It gives you a good Combination of AS, CDR, Damage, and MS, and it gives you tendency. I would follow this up with Lucidity boots if I didn't either ninja tabi or merc treds. If you need LS, I would probably recommended BotRK.

The one thing I like about fighter Gnar, is that his CC makes him durable in the sense that he stun locks your opponent. your not taking damage if your Opponent is stun locked.

Trinity force gives him tons mixed damage. While bortk gives him attack speed. I seriously don't understand the brut rush when u can complete a major damage item and do more damage while building tank. Also depending on the team comp frozen mallet is great on him.

To be honest I just build brutalizer for dmg for gnar and then go straight tank, maybe even finish ghost-blade if im doing well early on enough. Like some have said gnars natural damage coming from hyper is good enough, but with runes and masteries you can kick it up a notch and with just a brutalizer/Youmou's alone you can shred anyone in mini gnar. BOTRK is alright it's just a longer investment imo, plus the active of youmous is much shorter; also brustalizer can go the Cleaver path which gives damage, hp and armor shred. All about what ya fancy though, try them all out and stick to the one that you feel helps you best on gnar. Only take one damage item in most situation on gnar though.
