Am I the only one who mostly likes Cassiopeia where she's at right now?

I never played Cass before her most recent rework but I just picked her up. I've seen a lot of people on the boards complaining about her current spot in League, especially regarding her E, and I just wished to offer my perspective as someone who didn't play as or against Cass pre-rework.

I'm probably one of the few people who like her current stacking passive. It's really hard-going before you get your third item, but her ability to melt people late game makes me feel rewarded for holding out in lane long enough for her late-game power spikes, or punished for my inability to poison people or hold my lane.

In comparison to her E, her Q and W seem to do too little damage, but I do like her passive on her E which allows her to chain it. I'd personally like to see something where you rely mostly on her Q and W sustain-damage play early before shifting to her face-melting assassin-like play driven by her E late (which, might I add, is very snake-like). I personally dislike it when the 0/10/0 Cass suddenly gets back-to-back pentakills, and I think buffing damage on her Q and W while nerfing the damage on her E would fix this. Changing her E to another AOE poisoning spell (which a friend of mine mentioned to me a few days ago) would most likely make her completely impossible to play mid as she would simply not have enough burst to be picked in most situations (might be an interesting top lane pick though if they buffed her defensive stats).

Really, the only thing I dislike about her kit is her ult. An AOE stun/slow makes it way to easy to poison people, and in consequence, to eliminate with little to no effort. Not to mention that it can deal upwards of 700 damage to everyone caught at full build before the follow-up damage from the poison and the E. It wouldn't be as much of a problem if it had a Karthus ult cooldown (ie several minutes) but having a 60-second cooldown at max rank with full CDR (55 if you take intelligence from the cunning tree) guarantees that it'll be up every team fight late game.

Playing against Cass is difficult IF you pick your champion/team comp poorly. Playing against Cass as Azir, for instance, is awful due to Azir not being able to punish Cass's weak early game and her scaling much harder than he does. On the flip side, playing against Cass as someone like Zed, who has enough mobility to avoid being poisoned and can really pressure her from the start of games, is fairly easy. In this sense, I think she fits well into League's champ pool, as opposed to a champ who has no true counter, or a champ who can't really counter anyone.

All in all, I personally like Cass where she currently is for the most part, but truth be told she currently does not really play like a "true" mage as Riot has put forth, but more of an "assassin" mage. I suppose if Riot's desire is to mold her into more of a traditional mage then a much more extensive rework would be needed, but, in my personal opinion, she already has a niche of her own as a late-game assassin-type mage, and she just needs a few tweaks to balance her out.

TL;DR: I personally like her passive, dislike her ult, would like a buff to her Q and W and a nerf to her E, but all in all like her current kit and hope not too much is changed in the upcoming rework.

For the record... the way old cass worked was that he had a stronger Q and she transitioned from an early-game poke mage to a late game E spamming power house. JUST like you said.

Your suggestion essentially is to revert her... and I agree.

Focus needs to move away from E. She's like a weaker ADC that just deals magic damage. You get more out of Vlad you just want AP DPS.

Passive could use some work, especially with tuning on other maps. The bonuses need to be removed and her ability ratios increased and CDs lowered to compensate. The only reason they're there is so they could inflate her CDs and give her absurdly low ratios. "Gating" they call it, when she already has several gates already. The sustain on the passive is so low it might as well not even be there.

Technically besides her passive and mana problems, Cass is fine. She could certainly be better. Her current kit doesn't fit her at all as a character. They need to change it.
