So about that Veigar...

One thing I've been curious about for a while now, and especially with 5.2, is what's going to happen to Veigar without DFG? I mean, you are still Veigar, and you can still delete people. but there are fairly common cases where you can't, even with DFG.

Basically, I'm wondering what Riot is going to do to change him.

I think Veigar Veigar is fine as he is now, the mana problem can easliy be solved with items, runes and pots, the only thing i can imagine that would help him is a longer stun (0.5 sec would be enought) or a percentage mr penetration. (he is no early game champ, so percentage would be great) I really hope nothing else will get changed on Veigar, he is a good champ as he is now, the DFG was just a little help to him, nothing essential Veigar item 3089 item 3135

We need to look at what DFG did for Veigar to get an idea of what Riot is probably going to do for him.

  • Let him delete targets early/mid game, with 20% less AP (give or take).
  • Let him delete multiple targets late game by Ulting one and DFG-Q on the other

Veigar can get rediculus amounts of AP late game, so he doesn't need the DFG late game, but his early/mid game will hurt without it.

So since his early/mid game is going to be weaker, any buff to get him to the same level would need to help his early/mid game. One solution is to make small changes to his Q to let him get more AP. Lowered mana cost, lower cooldown, mana/CDR refund on killing a unit, etc. are all possible solutions.

Where things get dicy is what Riot is probably wanting to do for Veigar. 5.2 patch has been targetting assassins with no counterplay, and while not an "assassin", Veigar has very little counterplay. A skilled Veigar instantly stuns you, then deletes you with his choice of abilities. The fact that we haven't seen the kit on the PBE implies that we will see changes to his Stun. However, changes to his stun means there need to be changes to his W as well, since the only way to land that was on a stunned target. Then you've got potential changes to his Ultimate, since the best "counterplay" is a Zhonya's or don't build AP.

TL;DR: There's a decent chance we're looking at a full blown rework for Veigar.

They said he is part of a 'bigger project', so he is probably going to be remade completely. or change a few spells

Reduce the mana cost. He does not need more damage.

I'd imagine they'll probably increase the damage on his Ult somehow.

I suspect our dear friend Veigar will be buffed in ways besides damage with the way they are doing with other DFG champions. However, I wonder, what could they buff. Hhhhmmm... could they reduce the cool down of Q at earlier ranks for better farming. Perhaps a buff to his mana passive. Or, on that thought, nerfs to his mana costs. Could his W get a shorter delay? Oh how I love this suspense, leaving everyone in wonder and curiosity.

he is probably getting a reworked passive and the AP damage removed on his R in place for faster falling time on his comet thing

I personally find Veigar still very Vei-able (See what I did there?). I'm pretty sure without DFG he'll be fine. An experienced Veigar is friggin scary.
