'Forcing' In League Ruining The Enjoyment
Before I start, I've palyed league for about 3 years now, and enjoyed it a lot for the first 2. Recently though, Ive noticed riot introduce a lot of what i call 'forcing' in to the game, which has made it far less enjoyable for me, to the point where i only play a few times a week, rather than as my primary game, and am usually left wondering why i bothered.
By 'forcing', i mean making someone play something they dont want to. In the old days of teambuilder, I'd pick zed mid, watch youtube for 10-20 minutes while i waited for a game (no one wants zed on their team), and got to play what i wanted, where i wanted. Now we have 2 roles, so about 30-40% of the time im forced into a role im not entirely happy with, but this i can deal with. Recently we've had mandatory autofill, which forces people into roles they dont enjoy at all. And shortly theyre going to introduce more bans (which for some people is a blessing im sure), which means theres a much higher chance what you want to play is banned, again forcing you in to something different. Am i the only one that see's the issue with this? Maybe theres some need for this in ranked (in the case of autofill this is debatable, putting top mains against autofill tops for example just isnt congruent with a healthy ranking system), but surely normals is a place where you go to enjoy yourself? If i want to play katarina mid in normals, and i'm willing to wait 20 minutes to do so, why cant i? Why am i forced game after game into roles and champions that i simply dont want to play, in normals, a place where you go to, you know, enjoy yourself?
Thats something a lot of the community, and riot, dont seem to get. People actually play games for fun most of the time. If im playing ranked then sure, im in tryhard mode and am here to win, if i cant play my mains that sucks, but i'll deal with it, make do, and try my best to win the game. But if i'm playing normals surely I should be allowed to enjoy myself, rather than be punished for not wanting to play certain roles or champions?
