Aatrox - the worst Adjustments ever made

I loved Aatrox. I think he has a really cool design, that just needed some improvements and buffs. Aatrox is one of my most played champs in the past few months and i even started a smurf that was suppossed to be an Aatrox-only account.

We Aatrox mains waited patiently for the buffs and the coming rework and learned how to stay relevant with a champ we love with all his small mistakes and lived in harmony. Then, everything changed when the riot balance team atacked. Only a buff or big rework, something that would make him more relevant, could make us happy. But when we needed it the msot, they nerfed him.

Ok enough "Avatar" references. Lets get straight to my problems. I know this is just temporarily until he gets a complete overhaul, I know that. But how long will it take ? Another 2 years ?

Riot CHOSE to ignore all ideas that Aatrox mains threw into the boards, they ignored every single professional discussion about a future rework. And to this day they made no real statements regarding his problems he has since patch 7.5. On the PBE he got buffed (higher base hp, q cooldown down, w damage up). But thats not the problem riot. You are a million dollar company and yet you cant comprehend the most basic problems. LISTEN TO US. PLEASE.

The problem is the new passive. The buffs should stay. They have to happen. It's a good beginning and especially more hp are essential for his new passive. But we also need a buff on his passive. There are multiple things that need to be adressed:

  1. The first 4 stacks dont do anything. That means, that before i hit 5 abilities ( if i even do) I am completely useless.

  2. The Blood well decays instantly. Even when fighting with minions. Imagine this scenario: I have 4 bars. The enemy sees the bars, of course he will not come anywhere close to me. With my next ability I will triger blood well, It doesnt matter if I want to or not. So he just waits for my e to him him. If I get another stack I become as strong as the old Aatrox. But how long? 5 Seconds is the answer. Because the enemy will just stall until I lose all 5 stacks. After that I am the weakest champion Riot has ever released until I hit another 5 abilities. Now try to hit 5 Abilities on your enemy after he flashed right onto you after your decay. IMPOSSIBLE before lvl 6, and even then it's not easy.

  3. Jungle Aatrox is unplayable. His passive even decays when he fights with jungle monsters. Its like playing Blitzcrank in the jungle. There were high elo Aatrox players that palyed him in the jungle only. Did riot make them suffer intentionally ? If not they did it because they lack the brain cells to understand very basic jungling concepts. I do not need continue this point, every jungle Aatrox player made this experience.

Until these problems aren't fixed Aatrox will never be useful. The passive is a real problem.

Before you make your next big decission maybe listen to the THOUSANDS and MILLIONS of mains around the globe.

I think the CONCEPT of his passive is a great feature added, his old passive didn't make a bit of fucking sense and was only used to cheese level 3. The problem that I can think of with it, is the fact that it decays WAY to quickly, and it's incredibly unreliable to stack effectively. His abilities shouldn't be used to build up the blood well like the way they do. So, either make it to where he keeps his passive upon minion kills, or rework it completely, because of right now, I can't think of a scenario to where it would work to his advantage, except a few all in matchups, like Riven, Tryndamere, or Camille.

How is this a great feature added and how do you cheese level 3? What does this even mean? He just gets a little bit of AS + his GA. Other heroes get huge shields with jsut an autoattack (camillie) or a lot of dot dmg for EVERY auto and spell they hit (Darius) True dmg, sustain and movementspeed (fiora) etc.

Aatrox has nothing till his bloodpool is completely filled. Liked it much more when the AS gradually stacked instead everything or nothing concept...

You must've not played a lot of aatrox before his changes, i'm assuming.

You would start w level one, get the blood price, get q level 2, Q at them, auto, then ignite. You could do this at level 3 as well, it was almost a guaranteed kill everytime

In between that combo you are getting some attack speed to guarantee faster strikes to get the blood price proc too which was great.

His attack speed was a core part of the power he had before the rework and it didn't decay very fast, it was consistent. Blood rush is nice but why remove the build up of attack speed from the old passive along with his revive that procs at any time? Seriously? If zac and anivia can have that why can't he have that along side his blood rush. If yasuo can have a two part passive why can't he? This windowed passive doesn't even offer a build up of stats at each stack. They didn't seem to care about the opinions for his passive for whatever reason so its easy to avoid him when he hits 5 stacks and then reengage when he loses all of the blood rush. He doesn't even revive in that period and even if he somehow dies when blood rush is active they are ready to jump on him again because he doesn't have any bonus stats to start with.
