Guinsoo's Rage blade: the last true AS item
The title pretty much sums it up. I was highly disappointed upon reading the patch 5.23 notes to see Riot wondering why rage blade has suddenly attracted so much attention and been picked up in increasing numbers. I was even more disappointed to see that their usual (inept) reaction was to nerf it. The way I see it, with Zephyr dead, runaan's nerfed into the ground, and tri-force similarly nerfed in exchange for crit we didn't ask for, want, or need, Guinsoo's is the last item in the game that actually brings meaningful attack speed to the table at the cost of a small spool-up. for champs like attroxx, Jax, kayle, and Irelia who benefit from AS more than AD, or Crit there are no other options at the moment that offer meaningful AS (and let's remember, more than a few ADCs looked for as more than crit). In addition, with most of the core AS items offering drastically reduced stats, a second item has been necessary, especially to compete with the new, hopelessly overpowered ADCs.
