2 NA servers please

i think a lot of people get an advantage of ping and others feel like they have a dis advantage so i think a lot of people would agree that there should be 2 servers in east of NA and west of NA this is just an idea and if any riot employee sees this please respond to me and try to send this to someone who can make this happen, thanks.

The reason they don't do this is because it would split the playerbase too much. They already have to rely on autofill to shorten queue times.

I would rather wait 1-5 more minutes than have trouble farming for the entirety of the game. But that's just me.

me too lol

you do realize the ping issue isnt all on riot... they arent the ISP they didnt build the infrastructure that the internet the USA runs on. they dont provide all the hardware that you use for your connection to your pc. there are alot of factors. but riot placed the server in chicago for a centralized location to better it for everyone. but just a side note im in dallas texas about 966 miles away... and i play on a wifi connection and 98% of the time i play with a steady 44ms for ping. sometimes i have issues with my ISP ( time warner / spectrum ) but when i have issues it usually on my end and not riots

i live in washington and 2 years ago the servers were in portland oregon and i got a steafy 18 ping and never changed the internet provider once

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

but that isnt all on riot... is all im saying. your isp can be having issues... you could have latency in your connection... there could be issues between your isp and where it goes from DC to CHICAGO across all the other servers and connections and ISPs and so on... to just try to pin point it all on riots server isnt really seeing the whole picture. all im saying is there are alot of factors to consider

I'm not talking about issues, I'm talking about the normal, constant, usual ping. When issues occur only for me, I d/c for a couple of times, and I know that's on me. When issues occur for other people in the game, and random team mates d/c, that's on riot. And when the ping was initially 85 or so for a game in 2016, when I can go play cs (Counter Strike, in this case) with 10 ping any time of the day or night, that's just stupid. It's now at 64 or so, for whatever reason, but for the most viewed game on twitch for years now and with such a huge player base, I think we can afford more servers. Or give us the server files.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

no its not all on riot cuz someone else randomly DCs you dont know their connection, if they are on public wifi like in a dorm. or what ever is the case to pin it all on riot is being closed minded. more servers wont fix the infrastructure that was built before riot ever existed. just as some places have fiberopics for connections. some cities and areas have higher connection speeds. hell the google internet is over 1000mbps but not aval in all areas.

and if you have more servers then the player bases would be divided among those servers ... just as it is with NA, OCE, EUW, and so on ...

AdeBug1 votes

If more than 1 player, sometimes me included, randomly dcs, then yes. You obviously never had this problem before, but I have. Thankfully, in Normals.

And I did not pin it all on riot, grats on your abilities to read and comprehend, and have the nerve to offend.

A different location can have a different hop list, it's easy to choose one with less hops, I suggest you read about those. And take your time.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

how did i offend ?

and hmm how many people are logged into the NA server and plays a day at any given time ? and a few here and there have the issue NOT ALL THE PLAYERS if it was an ISSUE WITH RIOT SERVERS THEN IT WOULD BE ALL OF NA HAVING THE ISSUE NOT A FEW RANDOM PEOPLE

considering the fact that we all play on the same fuking server

now have i offended you yet?

It won't be 1-5 minutes. It'll double it. It also splits friend groups that can currently play together now.

AdeBug1 votes

I think you ignored the word 'more'? If my queue is already 5m, that IS doubling. What is it with you people, I get the other guy getting lost one paragraph, but that was just 2 sentences.

Why do I even bother lol

GankedByWindows1 votes

I used double because it covers all cases, and accounts for what happens when one server gets massively more popular and the less popular server gets much longer queue times (See EUW vs EUNE)

If you've got trouble farming, moving the servers isn't going to lower your ping enough to fix the issue.

AdeBug1 votes

oh, the old git gud retort when u run out of shit to say

DrCyanide1 votes

If the problem was the server location, you'd have consistent high ping. Minion HP drops consistently and predicably, so you'd be able to predict when it'll enter last hit range and last hit consistently.

That's the basics of last hitting regardless of ping, and those basics won't change if the server is close to you or far away, all that would change is what you think their HP bar needs to be at before you try and last hit. If the ping was inconsistent it wouldn't be because of the server location, and you'd still have the problem after the move.

So... yeah. If you eliminate the possibility of it being a problem with the server then it's a problem with you needing to "Git Gud".

AdeBug2 votes

And here I am again, guess I'm too bored to post here when I know there's no point. I never said I'm the best at last hitting and the server ping is the only thing holding me back. Last hitting is just 1 issue that could be softened with a lower ping. The most common issue, cus that's where you spend most of the time if not jglin, which is why me and my spouse are both jglers at heart. But it's not the only issue, another being abilities just not firing in time or at all, including actives like zhonyas, without being silenced or out of range. The game literally says nop, something else happened first that negated it, or your thing just never fired.

You cannot honestly tell me ping makes no difference, you're either ignorant or stupid. In any game you can clearly see even a 10 ping difference and the one with a ping of 5 will always beat the one with a ping of 25, when at same level of skill, or close enough. And if you don't believe me, watch any decent streamer and you will see that on average, the lower the ping, the higher the level. This is the most recent thread I could find on avg ping: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/N2Anj44J-whats-goodbad-ping And here's a quote cus w/e I say is shit: "I have seen streamers on like 25 ping with over 200 FPS that have been unable to play with 120 FPS and 50 ping and called it too laggy. I get like 80 ping and 60 FPS on the east coast which is playable if you get used to it but I have heard low ping is a world of difference." The reply stating that higher ping makes landing skillshots harder. And here's some graphs: http://imgur.com/g1NeQXv (source: https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/1t23a0/latency_lag_vs_win_rate_in_league_of_legends_oc/ ) Looks like winrate goes down when ping goes up. Shocker!

And if you're still stickin to your bs story, then ask Riot to remove some of the servers, cus based on your premises, ping doesn't matter. We would have the playerbase more united, q times lower bla bla bla. And all this to an extent where the average ping has to be lower than 100, of course. Or 250, cus this is a card game, why not.

DrCyanide1 votes

My story was only that it wasn't what was holding your farming back, which was your only point when you started.

Of course ping effects other things in the game, some critically so. I'm not arguing those, only last hitting.

AdeBug2 votes

Yes, last hitting is an action, client input, just like any other, and any action has a delay. Not to mention the delay of any info getting to you in the first place, so lowering the ping increases your chance of response. Plus ur not playing bots, so no 2 waves will be the same, and you have to react to any interaction your opponent creates with the wave. You also have to react to your own actions, as simply walking through them will make them try to walk around you and influence the rate at which the targeted minion's health is dropping. Not to mention certain abilities and items can change the speed and other attributes of both friendly minions and enemy minions...

And say u still stand still and all waves are the same, you will still not get everything the same every time, because packets differ and if that's not enough... They are sent at a certain tick rate which for one, shows the state of the game at certain times at fixed intervals (because this is not in real time and you don't get all the info all the time), and second, it entails windows of opportunity for the player to react. This can mean 2 things:

  1. imagine you need the minion at max health X to be able to last hit, and the server has these two states sent to you: first state with X+10 hp at say level 1-5, or 2*X hp at higher levels; and second state with 0 hp aka minion dead. The state in between is lost (why we sometimes see stuff teleport or just change more than it should in an instant, without freezes, cus thats another story) therefore the info you needed to react is just not there sometimes; it can also be drawn for a smooth experience, but lol doesnt have this interpolation thing. Mkk so lower ping cant fix this rare occurrence which actually makes the health drop rate inconsistent visually. But it can help with prediction accuracy (you get srv info sent to you faster, u have more time to react) and actual reaction time (the faster your input is received, the more impactful it is - minion might die if ur action is received too late) - btw this is all obvious stuff and should be enough I think this unsmooth health drop rate matters less at higher levels cus u scale better than a minion, but when it does impact you, visually, your aa is seeing a cancel, minion died faster than anticipated (could also be poor anticipation ofc), or you could have the illusion of inconsistent champ dmg, suddenly higher at same level (noticeable if you do 2 or more hits per minion and suddenly, your 2nd to last hit turns into the fkn last hit) and/or in 1 instance simply lower at the next level, ofc making you miss the gold (could also be early therefore poor last hitting)

  2. a tiny fraction of a second might not seem to matter much, but when it comes to that window of opportunity to react, it only matters if it's within it. if it's right after, your action is rejected. might not matter if ur a few seconds early to catch the subway, but it sure matters if ur a few seconds late and the doors are closed in ur face. therefore input from players with a lower ping might not just be received faster (the old 'I died even tho I shot first'), but can also be the only input received at that tick, yours being completely ignored. In minion terms, in the delayed case, you could have a shot go out but hit air cus minion dies in the meantime cus of bs delay. Visually, you hit something but no dmg shown, it died and u did not get the gold; if by mistake u clicked too early, ud see dmg done and minion die to enemy minion; if by mistake u clicked too late, ud see an animation cancel as minion dies, or your champ do nothing if minion already dead - pls correct me here if I'm wrong, because hitting air or smashing ground with an aa or targeted ability doesn't normally happen. In minion terms, in the ignored case, you can have that shot never sent (visually, ur champ does nothing and minion just dies and u go wtf I clicked it).

If you have lower ping, prolly lower than 50, and don't experience or visibly notice any of these abnormalities or inconsistencies, then lucky you. That doesn't mean they're not there for others.

Ignorance is bliss and you can always say na-ah, you just suck, but u can also read for yourself about how internet actually works, about protocols n packets, n how lag is a very broad definition and high latency is just one type of lag, and how it can affect games in particular, and how diff games are designed differently etc etc. And then come back with actual counter arguments proving I'm wrong partially or fully, or come to the same conclusion, lower ping is always better in pvp, for all input actions. And that includes farming, which is an important factor in the win percentage, that we can all agree on, and it's not by chance that win rate is influenced by ping.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) west coast ping is a myth

Hyperiön1 votes

The servers are in Chicago.

Smack dab in the middle.

I am on East coast, 40 ping, People in Cali, 50-60 ping.

The difference in 20-30 ping is miniscule, you are talking 2-3 hundredths of a second

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

im 966 miles south in dallas,tx and i have a steady 44ms on wifi i bet if i hard wire it be like 30ms

Hyperiön1 votes

Perhaps, but I don't think it would differ too much. Wifi in general is just bad to game on because more packet loss.
