The secret to get good at League which nobody thought about (yes, there is one)
Hello,
I've been playing League for years. Joined the game back when Elise came out. I got really into it for a period of time and day in day out would sit at my computer tryharding ranked. I felt like I was revving a car into its red zone every game and eventually feel exhausted. Need to try get that last cs whether or not I'm being zoned. Need to stay in lane for gold or push while nobody's there. You get the picture. After buckets of sweat, I climbed from Bronze V to Gold IV.
I had periods of time where I would pick up another game or go on holiday for a few weeks and not play League. I noticed something strange. Whenever I queued up my first game after this period, I would almost always do surprisingly well. Then a few games later I was back at it tryharding like I always do. I took a break from League for about 2 months and the first game I played was ranked Renekton top. I forgot who I was fighting but I was getting zoned and losing lane. I was so worried that all that CS I could see but couldn't farm without taking massive amounts of damage would put me behind and make me lose.
But then it dawned on me.
Suddenly in my head I accepted that there is just some CS you have to let go. Some CS that is too dangerous to take because if you do your health will be shaved. I realised how many times that game and in the past I have thought I could get away with last hitting a sneaky minion but got harassed and make my lane harder instead. I was 0/1 with terrible farm. In 7 minutes I was 3/1 with 100 farm at 15mins.
The secret is patience. You won't believe your eyes when you learn to just chill out in a game of league, no matter how hard. I'm sort of saying: It's not okay to not last hit and do things properly, but it's okay to accept that sometimes you just can't / shouldn't which a lot of people don't realise. They try to see if they can get away. "just one inch further to hit it".
Then I applied this idea of patience to other things. If people were MIA and I was bot lane pushed, I decided to let go of 1 or 2 CS so i could stay back and be in a safer position. Next thing I know, they tried to gank. For all the people there analysing what they need to improve on under a microscope, don't. If you've been playing league for even just 1 or 2 years, chances are it's already within your skill to do well at the game. You just need patience and you will play phenomenally, I guarantee it. I've gotten farm and ranked KDAs like this which have totally surprised me. Try it, you'll be surprised how easy it is to get 135 farm at 15mins if you just be patient and sacrifice a little for the greater good.
Some ideas where you can apply patience are when you are dead set on: -Harassing the enemy (especially as ADC) -Getting every last minion -Getting first tower blood or not going back because the towers on 1/4hp even though you could be ganked -NOT losing your first tower. In the scope of things, losing a single tower at 11mins really isn't that bad if it doesn't cost you a life or three.
Just let it go, be patient and enjoy playing.
