Why LoL is not nearly as fun as before and how to fix it.

LoL is not nearly as fun as before because more games feel decided earlier in the game. Comebacks are possible in far fewer situations than in previous versions of the game.

This is why players like Doublelift are saying that losses feel more frustrating and wins don't feel as satisfying. When you get ahead at the 15 minute mark and know that your victory is a foregone conclusion, it's not as satisfying. Playing from behind knowing there's no way you can win without an enemy quitting the game is frustrating.

There is a way to fix this. I am a data scientist. I know you employ data scientists. Here's what you can do.

Make many logistic regression ML model for the following levels:

Chance of winning from behind at 10 minutes, 12 minutes, 15 minutes and 20 minutes if your team is down by 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k, 5k...10k Gold. So 40 models altogether, and then multiply 40 by each division because I think it makes sense that way.

Your dependent variables are all of the champions on the team that's ahead and all of the champions on the team that's behind. Don't worry about stuff like how the gold is distributed or how champions combo off each other. Simple is better.

So the model looks like: Chance of winning from behind = Base chance x0 + x1 if jax on behind team + ... + x134 if yasuo is on behind team + x135 if zoe is on ahead team + ... + x268 if yasuo is on ahead team.

Only look at games where all players have rank 3 or above on all champions in play to control for players not knowing their champions.

Then, assign champions to 8 categories depending on results:

Champion increases chance of winning from behind and from ahead - Overpowered.
Champion decreases chance of winning from behind and from ahead - Underpowered. Champion increases chance of winning from behind and decreases chance of winning from ahead - Shouldn't happen, but Good Spot. Champion decreases chance of winning from behind and decreases chance of winning from ahead - Starve or Strive Champion only increases chance winning from behind - Scaling Champion, Good Spot Champion only decreases chance of winning from behind - Starve, but does not Strive, Underpowered Champion only increases chance of winning from ahead - Strive, but does not Starve, Overpowered Champion only decreases chance of winning from ahead - Falls off too early, Underpowered Champion doesn't affect anything - Good Spot

You're going to have to look at each level of the model, but you should spot patterns pretty fast. My guess is that there are way too many Starve only, Strive only, and Starve or Strive champions in the game right now. In other words, everyone is Yasuo! Please fix to make games feel less predetermined.
