Anybody else have the same frustration with the Blue Essence system?

I've been having some trouble with the new blue essence system, I feel like I need a better way to get blue essence and unlock champions. I took a look at my purchase history since the new year and I have been able to unlock 8 champions, 4 from shard and 4 from the store. I already owned all the 3150 and less champs coming into the season, but I feel like the amount of essence you get per shard is way to low. I am currently level 67, so I have opened 37 champ capsules since the new system was introduced, and I feel like the amount of blue essence I have gotten does not compare to how much IP I could get on the old system. I understand that every 10 levels you get a better capsule to open that gives more blue essence, but honestly, for people that don't no life this game, those are few and far in between. I just want to be able to unlock more champs on a regular basis without waiting for a shard for that champion, and lord knows I don't want to spend actual money on a champ, because lets be honest, $7-8 is a ton of money, especially when I still have 50 to unlock thanks to the tsunami of new champs in season 7. For more casual players, I feel like it's impossible to unlock champs I want to play and I end up playing the same champs I've been playing because I can't afford the new champ I want to try out, and by the time I can afford it, that champ is no longer good because a patch came out that nerfed, or maybe I just lose interest. But I do also understand that maybe I'm just not able to unlock champs like I used to because they are just getting more expensive, but I feel like I'm not getting BE as fast as I was getting IP. I also hate taking several days of playing to level up and opening a capsule with 800 BE worth of shards.

Also, getting level 6 and 7 masteries is crazy expensive and cuts in pretty deep to me buying new champs.

I want to know if anyone else feels the same way about this system, because in well over 200-300 games (total, not just ranked), I feel like I should have better rewards for the amount of time I am putting into the game.

Honestly, it has always been a pain to unlock new champs once you pass the 3150 threshold. I've been playing since 2012 and I only got all the champs when Ornn released last year (still haven't bought Zoe and Kai'Sa even though I could, full disclosure). That's five years of near daily play to get all the champs.

It's slow by design, and that's how they make some of their money; I don't love it, but if they made it all free, I'm not sure how much that would affect revenue, so it's hard to comment. As long as it's not pay-to-win, they're doing better than almost every other FTP title out there. Sorry for your frustration, but it doesn't seem likely to change.

Edit: Point here, just for clarity, is this has nothing to do with BE. It was a pain before, and it will be a pain no matter what the system is. Dont' blame BE.

It's Riot making their system more like gambling and less rewarding player time and/or skill. Which is why I haven't dropped a dime in months and don't plan to.

Thats actually pretty good getting 8 4800+ champs in 3 months

thanks to the tsunami of new champs in season 7

Compared to the time when riot would release 1-2 champs a month, season 7 hasnt had many new releases at all. Also everytime a new champ is released a 6300 champ drops in price

Also, getting level 6 and 7 masteries is crazy expensive and cuts in pretty deep to me buying new champs.

Meant to be an ip sink for people who have way too much ip and nothing to spend it on

300 games isnt that much, but already having 80+ champs in a 300 game span is almost impossible unless you were shelling out cash before hand. You are basically getting a champ every 4 games and on the old system where you would get 200 ip for FWotD and 100 IP after, thats not possible to buy champs other than the starters every 4 games.

Look. If you want all the champions, don't disenchant shards and you get them 40% faster.

If you want to play CERTAIN champions NOW, I would advise making a new account specifically for those champions, there is quite a big blue essence gain at the start due to the fact you get a guaranteed 3260 BE at level 5 and you level up in 2-3 AI games played.

If you make it a habit on your main account to never disenchant shards unless they're duplicates, and never buy champions with JUST blue essence, you WILL thank yourself in the long run. If you disenchant all your shards to get the champs you want NOW, you could be at 100 champs where if you had played for the same amount of time but didn't disenchant shards you could have all the champions by then.

I know it takes a lot of willpower to not play champions you want right away, but if you always think of a champ shard as a potential new CHAMPION, instead of just a bunch of blue essence, you will find yourself a LOT happier in the long run. Since you get champions 40% faster, you won't spend all your essence on champions you want now, and then finding later you don't like their play-style or they have too many counters or whatever. Even if you don't get champions you want immediately, at least you get champions 40% faster so you have a higher chance of getting your favorites in the future.
