3 inhibs down is impossible to win

Magic Wizard Joe··11 votes·5,063 views

"...whenever I see a team lose their 3 inhibs, it seems IMPOSSIBLE to win. Scratch that. It IS IMPOSSIBLE to win. How it tends to go: They push like crazy and get all 3 inhibs, sometimes just plain backdoor. Your team turtles like a boss and defends the nexus keeping up the towers. One person will stay back and defend. Your team wins the next team fight 2 for 4. Your team wins the next team fight 1 for 4. Your team wins the next team fight. Inhibs respawn and super minions are finally gone. Their team has made zero attempt to push after they nailed the inhibs. But, all 3 lanes are still SUPER pushed. Even pushing the minions back to where the first tower was in all 3 lanes. Baron spawns and the teams skirmish around Baron with no real team fight. Over the next 5 minutes, minions are back at the inhibs destroying them all alone. Team needs to retreat to protect inhibs, enemy team gets free Baron. Now they rush your base with Baron buff and storm the 3 inhibs. Enemy team leaves to go heal. Your team is left dealing with a million super minions. Not only do super minions spawn, but if all 3 are down, even MORE spawn than as if you counted one down 3 times. Enemy team comes back with their army of super minions then proceeds to blow the nexus down with a sneeze.

My point is: Remember those few CRAZY comeback games way back when? They can't happen anymore. I've had the team turtle like crazy and proceed ace enemy team 3 times, and it means NOTHING. You can't push unless you have already gotten their inhib tower down. The minions are destroying towers and champions, and they only reward 30 gold. How are you supposed to win at this point? It's not a PvP game when that mark is hit, just see how long you can play this Hero Defense until 70 minutes. The enemy team doesn't have to lift a finger to even attempt to push."

This problem is back... No?

Part of the powerful minion push has to do with the fact that the team that is currently winning has stronger minions regardless of inhibs or not.

Its such a stupid idea. I dunno who at Riot thought that was a good idea. Its in the patch notes somewhere. Basically if your team is winning your minions will be slightly stronger and push harder then the losing teams.

Its so fucking dumb dude.

Magic Wizard Joe3 votes

Lol I couldn't agree more. But to add 2 super minions spawning each lane for a total of 6 every 30 seconds is absolutely insane right? It's just not possible to defend. It doesn't matter how hard you turtle

ZT Xperimentor2 votes

Agreed, it was an entirely excessive buff for 'winning' teams that they didn't need.

DeathBurst2 votes

It's not dumb at all. It allows the losing team to just turtle under their T2 or T3 and still get access to minions, so they have a possibility to farm up, get gold, and get back into the game. The winning team, on the contrary, HAS TO make a move to close the game, they can't just safely freeze and slowly grow their lead.

So yeah, sure, once you already lost 3 inhibs, it's damn hard to get back into the game because of minions auto-push, but you can still wave-control, it's just not the same amount of minions you have to set up for a slow push, and if you lost 3 inhibs in the first place, chances are high that you deserve to lose anyway.

Magic Wizard Joe3 votes

You didn't read anything I wrote

DeathBurst3 votes

I actually did. And it's bullsh*t.

  • Re: the minion change LuluXAnnie is mentioning (and to which the post you replied to is addressed). You CAN wave-control, even despite it, and it has other good effects on the game.
  • Re: no come-back after 3 inhibs down: I thought I had posted another comment directly to your OP but I can't find it back, but anyway... Here's the gist of it: come-backs are fun once in a while, but too many come-backs and the game just feel random. If you lost 3 inhibs in the first place and they still have their 3, you probably do not deserve a come-back.

DeathBurst1 votes

I talked properly the first time, but apparently you didn't understand, so I tried another method, wanted to be less ambiguous, so it's easier for you to get the message.

Oh, and sarcasm aside, if your setting is still on "chronological view" and not "discussion view", you should change it. Because if I'm generous and give you the benefit of the doubt, that could partly explain the misunderstanding in your previous post.

Stephenizgod3 votes

If the winning team can't end the game after taking 3 inhibs, they don't deserve to win. Simple as that. Yet thanks to super saiyan minions they get for free, they will most likely win regardless. Wave control, yes lets wave control and give up Drag and Baron because leaving our base for 10 seconds will result in an immediate loss... super fun strategy...

This change was dumb, the losing team should be rewarded for being able to stall long enough to comeback. It is quite easy to end a game actually, you just need to not throw and 1v5 yelling at your team for not following. You don't need to teamfight, if you have 3 inhibs down all you need to do is be there. If you can't do that then the other team deserves to comeback. This change makes it damn near impossible, who cares if you get more minions? You are all stuck in base while they take Baron/Drag and your jungle. Then when they finally do come to take your Nexus, you need to back because killing those minions took all your Mana and probably half your HP.

DeathBurst2 votes

Even when I make bullet points you can't see that there are 2 different things here?

Sure, you cannot wave control versus super-minions once you have 3 inhibs down, but I never said that. What I did say is that you can wave control versus the minion change making them stronger for the winning team.

And this change has good effects earlier in the game (i.e. NOT when you are already 3 inhibs down). In fact, it has precisely the effect you want: rewarding a losing team that manages to stall the game. Because it gives the losing team easier access to farm and gold so that they can get back into the game.

And as for your ramble about how you don't even need to fight when the enemy team is 3 inhib downs? Well, yeah, I totally agree, that's why I replied to OP (i.e. the guy who was talking about inhibs, NOT the guy talking about the minion change) that he shouldn't expect a comeback, that it's normal it's impossible to win after being 3 inhibs down.

Stephenizgod2 votes

So yeah, sure, once you already lost 3 inhibs, it's damn hard to get back into the game because of minions auto-push, but you can still wave-control

Do you see how that can be confusing? you are talking about 3 inhibs being down and that its hard to deal with the waves of minions that come, then mention that you can still wave control its just not as effective as a slow push or something. Reading that entire sentence again and I realize now that it is just poorly written.

I disagree, it forces you to deal with a lane that is pushing by itself. At least 1 person is going to need to deal with that which leaves your team at a disadvantage for controlling Baron/Dragon or the remaining two lanes. If you let them be, you will lose towers. If you are capable of splitting off, pushing a wave, and rejoining your teammates for a teamfight/objective than the other team is either not winning by much or they are literally sitting in a lane doing nothing.

I actually was directing that part at your statement about how they deserve to lose if they are 3 inhibs down and shouldn't expect a comeback. My point was if you can't win the game when they have 3 inhibs down and you still have all 3 of yours, you don't deserve to win. Thus it is unfair that you get an automatic advantage and possibly win a game you didn't deserve to win. You absolutely should expect a comeback if you can wait out your 3 inhibs, that means the enemy team doesn't know how to end or are just messing around, this should be punishable! But it isn't because the minion changes make it hard to make a play since they are so strong.

DeathBurst2 votes

Yeah, OK, the quoted sentence may be ambiguous without the original context, but it's not in the post you replied to, it's in my very first post up there... <_< Anyway...

I disagree, it forces you to deal with a lane that is pushing by itself. At least 1 person is going to need to deal with that

I assume here you're talking about the minion-change, right? NOT the 3-inhib-down situation? The minion change doesn't make a lane auto-push, and it doesn't force someone to stay in lane permanently. You can set up a slow push and go fight in another lane, just as before, because the change is only making one side's minions a few percents stronger. That means the winning team can't freeze the lane far from your tower, but if you set up a slow push of 9 minions against a standard wave of 6, it will slow push perfectly well. It takes a bit of getting used to compared to the old system, but it's just changing habits, it's not intrinsically harder.

You absolutely should expect a comeback if you can wait out your 3 inhibs, that means the enemy team doesn't know how to end or are just messing around, this should be punishable! But it isn't because the minion changes make it hard to make a play since they are so strong.

Once again, that's not the case. The super-minions make it impossible to make a play, but if you actually wait out the full duration of your 3 inhibs and manage to get rid of super-minions (congratz!), you can start wave-controlling again, despite the minion change.

Magic Wizard Joe2 votes

my pain.

You feel all of it.

RdePZ6L3ru6 votes

Agreed, I kinda miss the days back when those ridiculous comebacks were actually possible. One of the things I might strongly advise is a bonus if you ace the enemy team with any inhibitor down- something like -10% damage from enemy minions, +10% damage dealt to enemy minions per inhibitor down when you get the ace... Actually come to think about it this would be a really cool mechanic to be implemented- might actually see some use in LCS!!!

Magic Wizard Joe2 votes

As cool as that sounds, Riot has never given a team buff like that before and they probably won't, sad face. They usually throw it in baron or dragons which is totally irrelevant but that's just what they do man... Lol hard life right?

Faie5 votes

But that is the entire point of the inhibitor mechanic, to actually end games. The reason that two super minions spawn per wave only when three inhibs are down is to make sure that team wins the game.

Three inhibs down is the closest you can actually get to losing, while having your nexus intact. Otherwise imagine that a well played Ziggs and a good team comp will be able to hold all the super minions, and it would be back to the season 3 stall meta where games lasted >50 minutes, through inhibs.

iLLp3 votes

no shit, if you lose 3 inhibs that means you shouldn't win.

whats next? its to hard to defend your nexus when the nexus turrets are gone?

i fail to see the point of this thread... any team that is actually smart... wait no... any team that has 1/8th of a functioning brain and has 3 of your inhib downs they will either push for the victory and/or get baron/elder dragon so that then they can push for the win. The game has to actually end!

They don't even even have to take dragon or baron, 3 inhibs down shouldn't be an instant Good Game. And if it should be an instant Good Game what's the point of being encouraged to continue to try? It'd honestly make more sense if 3 inhibs would automatically blow up the nexus for you because 97% of the time, with three inhibs down, you lost. Unless you're in bronze or something I'm not really sure what it's like in that elo.

sorry but if your team is so far behind that you cannot handle super minions then they would have won regardless. Either that or get an actual decent teamcomp that is able to waveclear!

Once again, i see no point to this thread other than complaining because your 10k behind team cannot win against the enemy

Magic Wizard Joe4 votes

Now you're being silly. I've never seen a team handle 22 super minions at their base whilst defending off the enemy team, neither have you, neither have anyone in the LCS.

What's funny is LCS is an entirely different game than League Of Legends in a way, and 3 inhibs down for such team will never be able to turn that misfortune around, and has never been able to turn such misfortune around unless they were xpeke (or simply backdoor'd before the super minions piled up in 30 seconds)

At this point you should just stop replying, you're not thinking correctly my friend.

the entire point of destroying the inhibitors is to make the game END! I have seen plenty of times teams that are able ward off 3 inhib downs, it's called engage the enemy team so you don't have to deal with them. If you lose you were going to lose, if you win then you just bought yourself precious time in winning. i have seen pro matches in which the team with 3 inhib downs have won. Just like once again, regular old matches with regular people just like me and you. It's extremely hard to do yes, but that is the point. Having 3 inhibs down should by all means, mean that you lost and it takes real skill to comeback from it (or the enemy being completely braindead... that works too).

You are the one who should stop trying to make point of a worthless thread with no point whatsoever

well if you are able to defend and win teamfights with 3 inhibs down then you have a good chance to win already. Sorry but being able to defend while having 3 inhibs down does not mean you are allowed to not care about the rest of the game and think that you deserve the win. You have 3 inhibs down, then you fight to the death and give it your all and if you are able to win teamfights then the only ones to blame for losing the game are yourselves if you ever manage to lose. Simple as that

Silverjust1 votes

I agree, it should not be a free win, but when you defend and your inhibs are back up, you should be able to be back in the game and not have to constantly push, because the enemy minions are autopushing and having to prevent baron at the same time. I think this post was about how you should have a chance but you have none.

so in other words you want a free win? sorry but you have your damn chance since you were able to defend while having 3 inhibs down and not losing! all you have to do is kill the remaining super minions and then you can go directly towards baron since regular minions are going to take forever to kill an inhib, hell you don't even need to push all the way, just kill a few minions and your own minions are going to do the rest. Unless there is a massive wave incoming (which is highly unlikely) your inhib has little chance of being destroyed by minions. You have a good chance of winning if you managed to defend against a 3 inhib down push. Not the other team's fault that they actually used their head and used their ADVANTAGE to get a free objective!

Silverjust1 votes

I said it should definitly not be a free win, but after reading more answers I dont know if the enemy minions are really pushing on their own. I´m not that often in a game that lasts that long so I dont know. If leting your minions slowpush is no problem, then the system can stay at it is. If that was not the case, would you agree it should be changed? (just in theory)

the only way for enemy minions to auto push towards you is when the average lvl of the enemy team is about 2~3 higher than the average lvl of your team and if it ever reaches that point the amount of minions going towards you will just make you catch up in lvls fast if the enemy doesn't do anything about it. Minions really never push on their own unless their AI gets smart in who to focus fire on which can take forever to do.

Vesemir3 votes

Because Turrets are a complete garbage. They deal no damage and are superweak. You lose a turret if the jungler and lets say top laner decides to push. That turret will be gone before you can come back to your lane.

Ima tell you a story, of the ranked 4v5. We had a vayne thst got mad because she tried to fight the bot lane and died while I (her support) lived. So she sat in the fountain all game. The enemies took our 3 inhibitors we turtled and counter engaged fights winning without losing a single person most time. 5 fights like that later we got one Inhibitor. 2 more fights like thst and we won the game. Not impossible, if I can do it in a 4v5 you can do it in a 5v5. Keep trying summoners!

The point of getting inhibs is to end the games, if triple inhib wasant strong then it would just be free farm for the other team as it shoves hard into their bases.

If you lose 3 inhibs it probably means you lost the game, as it should be.

Death and Doom2 votes

sorry, but I am strongly for 3 inhibitors being what they are right now. inhibitors and baron buff are the only way to end a game. If my team is up by 5k gold, but yours is a late game comp, you could just sit under nexus turrets and stall the game out. We cant dive you and you just farm gold till you win. Thats why Riot put in inhibs. We CAN dive you under 1 inhib tower, especially since it is a choke point and we can get baron. then if we get 3 inhibs we can win by just sieging with the minions.

Maybe you liked making insane comebacks, but for the health of the game inhibs should stay the way they are.

TeCoolMage2 votes

changes:

  1. 1 inhib, 2 inhib, 3 inhib all have the same benefit, the inherent advantage of having more than 1 lane being pressured is already strong enough (in past seasons snowball wasn't strong and turtling was a huge problem, now turtling isn't strong and snowballing is a huge problem). No more extra super minions on 3 inhibs as playing right already lets you force team fights against a behind enemy.

  2. Not too sure about this one; respawning an inhibitor converts super minions into normal minions. So being able to defend enough doesn't punish you.

zzrot can help at least vs 2 inhibs

i recently won a game where i was a soraka and afked for ~45 minutes or so (yeah, it was 1 hour long game, 1 hour and 2 minutes or something) and then built zzrot and banner of command to help vs two inhibs being down. funnily lvl 2 at 45th+ minute soraka ended 2/2/14 and lvl 17, i guess one or two kills were with that new aoe heal + damage item

but then, it was just a normal draft
