Jungle Vayne?

With the new patch, I decided to see if Jungle Vayne was really strong with the new Sated Devourer. In a custom game, I jungled Vayne, and I also have a custom game where I went normal ADC Vayne in lane. I wanted to see if the amount of true damage dealt by a Sated Devourer Vayne was significantly higher than that of an ADC Vayne.

Full Jungle Vayne Build: item 3153 item 3718 item 3046 item 3006 item 3031 item 3035 item 2140 Full ADC Vayne Build: item 3153 item 3046 item 3046 item 3006 item 3031 item 3035 item 2140

So, with these builds, I had a game (I know that an ADC usually builds a defensive item) in a controlled environment. After, I compared the damage dealt to champions (because that's what matters in a fight).

Jungle Vayne Physical Damage %: 71.55% Magic Damage %: 13.43% True Damage %: 15.19%

ADC Vayne Physical Damage %: 88.00% Magic Damage %: Negligible True Damage %: 12.00%

So, Sated Devourer Jungle Vayne deals 20% more true damage than an ADC Vayne with the given builds. And while Jungle Vayne can proc Silver Bolts really quickly, and with a item 3715 to add extra true damage, she only deals 20% extra true damage to champions than an ADC (mind you in a custom game, so statistics may be a bit off from in an actual game). The Devourer jungle item actually contributes heavily to her magic damage, which, ADC Vayne has nearly none of (the actual percentage for magic damage on my ADC Vayne was about .001% and I don't know where that came from). Does this mean that Jungle Vayne may become a thing? I think not. She has to deal with a lot of problems in the jungle, namely a lack of sustain (she could actually clear it quickly with a normal item 3718 (non-sated), item 3006 , and item 3144 with little damage). I found myself chugging 2-3 item 2003 per camp in the early game. So, in the end, while a Sated Devourer Vayne deals more true damage than an ADC Vayne, it is 20% more true damage (I thought that it'd be closer to 50% extra true damage). I doubt that Jungle Vayne will emerge at the next big thing. While Vayne is capable of shredding tanks and stuff (against some tanks, she can deal nearly 50% true damage to them), being a Sated Devourer Vayne isn't going to make you a true damage god (with mixed feelings). Of course, it'd take a lot more matches (in actual games) to figure out more accurate statistics, but I did my best with a match of each.

If you want to, try it out. Vayne had to deal with a lot of early game problems, but her Tumble got her AA resets which helped a ton in clearing camps. Her Silver Bolts just added on damage, and her Condemn helped with keeping damage down by stunning the camp monsters. But once she got rolling, she could clear easily.

Just wanted you to know.

since they changed leash mechanics...unless she gets a strong leash early, probably not. She simply is too frail to clear well. (Running AS Reds, Flat armor yellows, AS Blues and 2 LS and 1 AS quint might be the only way to do it)

Though the new devourer makes it tempting, it would be far better to use it on someone who doesn't fall behind farming the jungle like Yi XD

I've been wondering if it's possible to try ADC Vayne with smite bot lane for the devour. Though I get that the bot lane is basically solely dependent on item advantage and you wouldn't get stacks all that quick on some one in lane but...the reason why I've been thinking about it was..

It allows you to make sure you can always get the Cannon minion, or scuttle crab when you get the option. Another smite makes Dragon/Baron more easier and can be done quickly Due to the fact that you can't infinite stack Devour anymore, Jungler might be willing to spare jungle for you mid game Skirmasher/Stalker can be very helpful and can possibly change tides of a 2v2 fight

The reason why I feel you probably can get away with it would be because 30 stacks is not that hard to come by when you think about it. Just make sure you start off with the normal D-blade and (for Vayne's case) still get the Botrk as your first item, and then for your second item get the Devour and start stacking. By the time you get that as your second item, lane phase should be over and it's about mid-game where you can just farm the jungle (also hopefully your jungler is already done with their Devour if they have it) and if not and you're in an extended lane phase...You can still just stack it from Kills (Not sure if Assist can get it anymore?) and just make sure you get the scuttle crab when it spawns or maybe the finishing kill on dragon/baron etc. Also since you get a stack on camp assist, just go near your jungler and attack the camp one time to allow you to get a stack.

I guess the biggest issue would be the not having heal as an adc which can hurt early game (Stalker/Skirmasher is probably better then heal once the mid/late game hits, especially on some one like Vayne). I'm sure that would be viable as a top lane (for top lane Shyv/Aatrox etc) but not sure on ADCs, opinions?

I played jungle Vayne a good amount before this patch and now that sated devourer is here... let's just say tanks have never been so scared. A few things I want to point out are:

  1. Devourer doesn't scale with crit. That's why I used to go Warrior, but now it's too good to pass up. Just be careful, as your early damage is pretty minimal until you finish stacking it.
  2. You really want to go item 3713. You can counterjungle quickly, stack it up quickly, and sustain almost endlessly.
  3. You can do a full first clear. Just go from gromp/krugs to wolves/raptors, down to scuttler, then to the buff. The trick is to avoid red and blue when your smite is down.
