AP runes are just wut

So an AP mark cost 410 and some IPs. For 0.59 AP. Meanwhile, AP Quints, that cost only 512 IPs, give 4.95 AP.

I may not be a math major, but something doesn't seem right.

There is a thing called primary runes and secondary runes. In general, secondary runes are absolutely worthless, don't pick those.

Why do you take AP Marks in the first place?

look at ap glyphs. They are probably the option you are looking for ap if you wanted your quints to be something else.

On your rune page, each rune has a glow based off of what stats they give, matching the color of one of the rune types. (i.e. AP Marks glow blue) Each stat has an affinity with the rune type of their glow, (Marks are red, Seals are yellow, Glyphs are blue) so AP Glyphs are vastly superior to AP Marks. Quints of course, are an exception, and are generally good for any stat.

There are a few runes that don't match their designated type worth using, (Armor Marks for example, which only have .09 less armor each than Armor Seals) but generally they are only there for the truly absurd builds. (Most legit build I can think of that uses all of them for one stat is crit damage Gangplank) Think of them as diminishing returns for those who want to stack the same stat on runes.

Use magic pen marks and flat ap Quints. Much more effective combination

Ap reds are made to be extremely inefficient, magic pen reds are the way to go.
