What to do with troll picks during promos and tilted team mates?

I just finished my first determined climb to silver. I decided to stick with the support role as I feel like it is one I play fairly well. I have also found that I feel more useful playing support in situations where my lane does not happen to win. My final push to silver included two promo series which were more stressful than I would have liked. My first series included a game where my laptop ceased to function and it went to the fifth match. This last match lasted an hour and I could feel my utility getting worse and worse until my team collapsed for the final time. I quickly got into the second set of promos where i was relieved to have a free win. This was short lived though as my top laner locked in draven with exhaust and my adc locked in sona with ignite. They did not communicate until I had 1 second left to lock in. To sum it up, I felt like I had been robbed of a promotion match. This trend continued into my next game as I was paired with a zed top and teemo mid. I did not want to loose two promos without even trying so I went for it. The troll picks actually did well enough to carry our team through an extended period of time in which our adc had disconnected. The last game was stressful due to my adc being a bit tilted as well as it potentially being my final game in bronze before getting to silver. I know I am not the only one who has had these issues, but I feel like experiencing all of this in the span of 24 hours is just...not lucky. I would be glad to receive feedback on what could help make the climb feel like less of a slot machine as well as useful tips for playing support in low elo. Thank you : )

Yeah I agree with the other guy, silver isn't that much better. I finally got promoted to silver 3 this week after losing my promos multiple times. The minute I get in, my MMR drops. I win one, lose one, win one, lose one. Then I lose one game at 0 LP and get demoted. Then on top of that I lose 4 more games in Silver 4 due to a rage quitter who left after two deaths and blamed me for the tiniest mistakes I made, another game our jungler kept lagging and the top laner fed to hell, another our mid laner was an intentionally feeding troll, etc.

I'm a support main like you and bro it's not that much better.

Dude, I hate to tell you this but Silver is WORSE than Bronze. Welcome to the land of egos and tilt. Where everyone thinks they are a Platinum player and the trolling is real.

Good luck, you might miss Bronze by the time you are done in Silver.

Low silver is legit worse than high bronze as it is filled with mid bronze people who got lucky in placements but don't drop down, newbies in placements who should be mid-low bronze, bronze players who finally hit silver and don't care anymore, and trolls who don't care cause it's hard to drop down a tier. High bronze usually at least has more people who try to get silver and it's easier to drop so less trolls. "Troll picks" might not always be troll picks either. they could be one trick ponies didn't get their role who are only good with that champ and have a better chance of winning with that champ or they could just be experienced with it and going off meta hoping that the enemy laner won't know how to deal with them and by knowing the match up better. Honestly, I always expect the best from people who use "troll picks". Although it's better to check them on op.gg or other sites to see if they are a one trick or just a troll and decide to dodge from there. Low silver/ high bronze is also where most of the player base is so you also get a lot of different people. You get skilled newbies who are only bad because of lack of experience, Players great at micro skills but have terrible map awarenes, just overall average people, casuals who don't understand everything, former mid Elo players on tilt, mid bronze players who just got on a lucky streak, veteran players who know a lot about the game but just have bad skills, and ect.. The point of that ramble is that it is hard to assume much of any player in each of your games. As for advise on supporting in low Elo, be sure to ward a lot and make sure to remind your teammates to ward a lot as well. Don't be afraid to check your teams items and call them out of they have 2 wards up. Don't always rush sightstone, sometimes you might be better off rushing boots if the junglers aren't going bot a lot or if you have to dodge a lot of enemy skill shots. Being faster means you can dodge better, engage better, run away better (especially from zyra plants, hate those things), and chase enemies better. And if I'm a tank support and Im against a heavy stun/snare combo bot lane, then I'm rushing merc threads 1st thing. Another thing is to know when to bully. Did the enemy blitz just miss his hook? He is useless and you can harass for free. Zyra just use up her combo? Bully. Is one enemy a good bit behind their casters while the other is behind your melee minions? Bully. Are they both low on mana? Bully. Did the support just leave to ward? Bully the adc. Did one of them just back? Bully them hard. Don't even let them get near the minions for exp. Did the tank support just go up to the cannon minion? Chances are that they are focused on the cannons health and are out of position, not willing to engage until minion is dead, not paying much attention to skill shots, and/or can't do anything if you and/or your adc auto attack them because of creep block. An important thing to know in bulling and trading is the enemies range, mana costs, and especially the enemies abilities and their cool downs. Be sure to be aware of the adcs, low Elo adcs won't always fight with you and back you up because they are paying attention to the low health minions. This applies to both sides. Wow I ranted, sorry about that.

DODGE, you can lose your promos, but its far more important to maintain your MMR.

you may think if you dodge promos you cant rank up, but thats not true at all.

if your MMR is high enough you will outright skip over divisions without having to play promos at all. Riot will place you higher and you will get a "congrats you have been promoted to XXXXX" without entering promos.

this isn't good if you're trying to go from bronze 1 - > silver 3 for instance, but its a life saver for everyone plat+.

Nothing since riot doesn't care about trolls, only toxic people

I recommand you get a duo partner and gtfo of silver asap, it is the real elo hell and staying there for too long really hurts your mental.

I had 3 first time champ picks on my team during my promos. I won lane, went 11/3 and of course we lost due to a 1/12 jg and a 2/10 adc.
