I'm pretty sure it's comparative to other people playing your champ in your role. So aside from kda it's possible that farm, damage taken, damage dealt plays a role in the grade as well.

It seems much easier for supports to earn an S rank over other roles, at least in my own experience. Ive played my ass off mid and the best I've gotten was an A. In support, I've just played how I usually play and I almost always end up with an A or better.

Yep, from what I seen, clearing just a few wards really inflates your score. I had a like a 5-3-21 game with Nami (23 wards placed, 3 cleared, 35 min length) and got an S+, while in my most recent Graves game, I went 12-2-13, 15 wards placed, 150 farm 30 min length and only got a B. (I had a Jinx game with a worse KDA, but more farm, also got a B)

And I don't even want to mention Jungler! I had a 0/2/30 game with Zac (about 70% kill participation, 3 drags, and late game baron) and walked away with a C+

It feels as if you're ADC, it weighs more on damage done and farm than KDA, Supports on Wards placed and cleared, and Tanks, well, not sure, Damage taken? But if you're building tanky, then total damage receive would still be pretty low.

I think the system needs a little transparency for min-maxxers

I really don't know. I went 7-1-2 as Ahri in a 21 minute game and got a B+.

played vi, scored a solo penta (literaly, noone even had an assist) got an S besides that i got it once more but i dont remember what i did playy then .... maybe ashe

i was karthus i went 35/5/14 got a penta at the end got a A+ kda tottaly matters guys seriously tho riot needs to release a post or something on what gives s ranks cuz i went 13/7/15 as zed got s rank and i dont even know what i did

I've gotten S rank several times as leona. Kills don't mean everything in the mastery rank but do play a part in it. My last match as leona i had 2 kills, 2 deaths, and 20+ assists. But also had taken three towers, and one inhib. Furthermore I had helped my team a huge amount by dealing out stuns where needed and rooted those trying to run.

What I'm saying is that everything you do in match effects your mastery score, not just your KDA ratio. Towers, inhibs, wards placed, minions and monsters killled, stuns, roots, snares, everything plays a part in it.
