How do you pick your main champions?

I am pretty confused. I want to start ranked, but I want to go in with my best picks, a champion pool. I main Top lane and I might take either Mid or Jungle as my secondary. Are their any tips to making a champion pool? I want 8 champions, four for each role. By the way, I have confirmed one champion- Gnar

When I started playing this game, I had no clue which champion I should get, so I looked through the list and thought "this champion (Diana) looks cool". So I bought her and I enjoyed her play style, continued to play her and i never really stopped considering her as my best champion. Don't try to build a diverse champion pool by maing a champion for each class, just play the champions that represent your play style (ap- bruiser assassins like diana, fizz, ekko or elise in my case)

Ok I'll try experimenting that.

I'd say play with several champions and see which ones works best for you, the ones you're more comfortable with.

Generally, i'd just recommend you find champions you enjoy, who suit your playstyle and who you consistently do well on.

After that, I'd generally recommend you try cover multiple roles with your champion picks so that you have somebody for most situations.

For example, you'd probably want a split-pusher, an assassin, and a tank in top-lane (at minimum) for proper coverage/versatility.

My preferred top laners (which fill those three roles) are: Nasus Irelia Maokai

first off play whatver champ you enojy playing master them understand their visual mechanics such as the animations of spells and auto attacks. Do it so well that you can farm without being glued to ur minions. you should be able to farm and look at map at the same time. after u learned ur favorite champs that u enjoy to play then u can start to learn other champs that may not be as fun to play but are either strong or can counter a team comp. or even make ur team comp better. But u have to follow the same steps learn the champ inside and out then take them to ranked when u ready.

Champion picks honestly dont matter until u hit maybe plat or diamond. thats when a "op" champion really shines because they understand why the champ is op and how to abuse it. in low elo they just know the champ is op but cant abuse it..

I'd say get some that play different styles so you can counter pick. For example, for top, maybe get gnar, garen, teemo, and riven. There are always champs that float above the rest and are "op", but really you just have to play champs that fit your play style.

I one trick Katarina I see a lot of High elo players (Diamond+) one trick and they were able to climb so i decided to do the same.

I decide what my main champion(s) by if they are underrated or considered ''bad'', by how fun they are to play with (you can guess what is incoming) or by how good their visuals are (I have only picked 4 champions of this category). For this reason I picked Taliyah as a main but since they changed her too much I don't play her now as a sign of protest of the bad changes. Underrated champs for me are Evelynn Karma I played them in Normals not in rankeds but THEY ARE SO GOOD. Fun champions are Bard TahmKench Heimerdinger AurelionSol and the champions by visuals are Jinx MissFortune Illaoi Zac I LOVE PLAYING THEM

Try them all until they click.

Also 8 champions is too many probably. If you really want to improve work on 3 at the most per role. You can also just really play 2 or 1 in specific roles.

Getting counter picked in bronze through Gold doesn't matter too much if you are good with your champion. All the matchups are skill matchups in that elo.
