1550 gold for a first ingredient is really expensive, and if you're falling behind, getting this item can be a real pain in the butt to get. So why not have it build from 2-3 long swords? That way it would be a big freaking sword... made of swords. Just suggesting.

Sure, you can now get 2 longswords before making a BF...but the ahead person can now buy 6 long swords and just make them into BF swords whenever they want. Component pieces for higher items should not exist for offensive items, as it makes any lead unable to be overcome at any point. Currently the difference between a 1400 gold adc and a 400 gold adc is nothing if they are going for BF sword; that 400 gold adc can still try to trade and get a lead. However, with longswords the difference is 2 longswords: that ahead adc now has even more of a lead, which they can use to secure even greater leads (can't fight well when the opponent always has more damage than you at every point).
Dr Poro1 votesI agree, but for some reason, Riot thinks that offensive items are for those who are ahead and defensive items are for thse who are behind. So better build Armor when you're behind on ADC amirite? TBH seems like Riot has gone off this path since they nerfed armor into oblivion so when you're behind, building armor doesn't even offer any comfort.
Critmaster Garen1 votesmore expensive items means it delays the power spike of ad carries and gives their opponents a bit of breathing room to build armor before these champs really start to take off in damage.
smoothening out their item builds would cause adc to %%%% all over top and midlane.
