Null Magic Mantle

As a top laner, i have always relied on buying a null off the start of the game along with those 2 health pots when i was against an AP top lane, such as cho gath, morde, TEEMO, ect

now sense they raised the price to 500 that no one can buy it off of the start of the game, i feel like i am at a major disadvantage going into lane from the start.

Before i had the choice to be able to buy an armor item, or magic resist item from the start if needed. If the AP top can still be able to buy a dorans ring from the start, why am i not allowed to be able to buy magic resist from the start to combat that.

So i guess my question is does anyone know why riot decided to make this change, and is anyone else bothered by this change as well?

As for me i would most definitly like this change to be reversed as i just feel it is not fair, and is putting me as a top laner at a disadvantage to other AP top laners.

Doran's Shield. It now blocks both basic and spell damage so it works well with that. They changed null since they took out Negatron.

I'd recommend using Crystalline Flask, Doran's Shield, or Ruby Crystal as a starting item against AP champions top lane.

I haven't really run into any issues from the change myself. I have rune pages with MR Glyphs and Quints for facing heavy magic damage opponents like Leblanc and Rumble in lane, so I usually focused on getting early health or sustain to work with them.

It hurts me a lot against Rumble in particular, who gets this insane lvl 4 powerspike, from which Dorans shield cannot defend me.

Then again, I main Cho, so having people like garen unable to itemize against me from the get go is always nice.

Take utility masteries if it's that important to you, start with 505 gold, profit.

You almost never wanted Null Magic Mantle as a first item, it was pretty much a noob trap to rush most of the time.

That being said, you could argue they should have made it NOT a noob trap, but if it's balanced against Rumble, think how strong it would have to be against a champions that had mana limitations. MR counters burst champions harder than Armor counters dps because Armor just extends the time to kill someone, whereas if you can't burst someone down you often just can't kill them at all.

I think they changed it since Dorans shields block spell damage now

The comparison to dorans ring is a bit silly...they arent even close and you can still get dorans shield so do what the pros do and take the shield....it gives health regen blocks flat damage from basics and single target spells, give 80 health, i mean what else are you looking for?

Imagine how lame things look in ARAM.. Lots of magic poke. I really don't get it why they had to increase mantles price, if stats are the same.. It hurts tanks a f***ing alot...
