Dodging in champ select should have a harsher penalty.

Hey summoners.

Now I'm sure that it's not just me but everyone that queues for any kind of draft pick knows how frustrating it is to get to the end of a champion select and then someone dodges because they don't like the comp.

5 minutes for dodging a queue because 'you didn't like the comp' is just not enough in my opinion. You just wasted at LEAST 5 minutes of 9 people's time. That's cumulatively 45 mins you've wasted.

'What if I need to go? What if I have stuff to do and need to dodge?'

Don't click the queue button, then? If you really have to go for something important, a longer queue timer isn't going to affect you anyway. Say the penalty was a 45 minute queue timer. If you really had to go to do something important, it'll likely take you longer than that anyway, right?

Quite regularly I have to go through around 5 champ selects before I get to play a game due to dodgers.

'What about trolls?' Simple, add a 'vote to dodge' button. If all 3/5 people vote to dodge, you can dodge with a standard 5min penalty (rising over time as normal). Why 3/5? Trolls often duo queue.

Thoughts?

tl;dr dodging is annoying and should incur a larger time penalty.

Queue times are really short at the mid tiers, and only get long for the highest tiers. If you want to increase the penalty, it should not be the same for dodging a 20 minute queue and a 20 second queue, at the very least.

sorry, but i'm done with ppl failing Vayne top, Riven mid, and shaco jungle. I dodge any of these picks.

Dodging 5 mins of frustration, or 20 mins of it. I'd take the 5 min champ select that is dodged over the 20 mins of team mates feeding/trolling ending with a /ff. Assuming they actually accept it, and not vote no out of spite.

What if is the other way around?

Adding a Champ select lock button to stay:

The dodger leaves, but the other 9 players remain. Search engine replaces the spot with a new member.

this is terrible idea. What would I rather do? Forfeit 45 minutes of my life to wait to be able to play another game or play that game with the troll support Teemo who is going to feed and just be a pink ward. Dodging is necessary and what you are proposing would drive many people away from the game. The wait for another queue is honestly not that long and if anything their should be an option to disband the lobby and no dodge penalties given out.

I honestly don't see that many queue dodges when I play, except for arams. For ranked I'd say the rate is maybe something like 1/10 games

Agreed. The worst is Friday nights. Dodging is an epidemic on Friday nights.

It ramps up rapidly if you dodge more than once per 24 hours. Pretty sure the second one is already 20 or 30 minutes.

Vote kick has its own set of horrible problems. HoN had this and had to remove it because it was constantly abused.

Most players are mentally inept and Q dodging in ranked is basically a necessity to have.
