Dominion and Botting

Over the last few weeks I have noticed and insurgence of bots in dominion games. Its getting to the point where almost 1/3rd of all my dominion games are ruined by bots. I've tried to look along the forums for any sort of explanation and I have yet to find one. I know dominion is not a top priority for riot at all but I believe its getting to the point where it needs to be addressed. Heck today I had 3 games in a row with a bot, my 4th game someone on the team dodged for the sake of the team, and somehow I ended up getting a 5 min penalty (not really relevant to the real problem but just emphasizes my frustration of the situation). If anyone has an explanation or if riot could give some insight into the problem I'd love to hear it.

Yeah, I hear a lot of complaining about this. It's not an easy snap of the fingers to identify bots, either, unfortunately.

If Riot could spend one day to get rid of them, they would, rest assured. The problem is, the won't recover their resources by doing that, because interest in that mode is so low.

This has been going for years, bud.

Just going to say this is more a symptom of the terrible leveling environment. People bot to 30 because the grind in unbearable and thus level 30 accounts have a value. People bot because IP costs are astronomical and there is a lack of discounted champion bundles, making the pay wall a bit high. Worse yet as botting becomes more prevalent it actually increases the value of botting, because each bot makes the game less enjoyable for a new player, making the leveling experience worse, which encourages them to buy an account at level 30 so they can actually play the game. Or worse yet, start botting themselves. Not saying that this isn't a problem, but just banning them will not fix it.

Report them in-game for 3rd party applications and take a note of their names and submit them all in a request.

if we could get the mode popular again would also be a solution.

Would need some actual support from Riot to get popular.

It would take a relaunch, probably, but with everything Riot has learned since Season 1, I suspect they could make the map more fun for a much wider range of players.

If you've only noticed it recently, you've been incredibly lucky with your teams in games...

They've been flooding into even high MMR games as of last patch. I never saw one before a week ago.

My guess is that Riot changed the match making algorithm to make it more forgiving so Dominion games queue up faster. Problem is, they're allowing sub-30 players get matched with post-30 players, which is allowing bots to sneak into real games at times of low player activity.

Because people keep dodging the bots, that means they get removed from the queue and make the problem even worse.

Riot just needs to exclude sub-30 players from getting matched with post-30 players and this problem would largely go away.

It has definitely been worse than usual, but Riot doesn't like to publicly discuss these issues so that botters don't catch wind of the issue being noticed more than usual, allowing them time to change up tactics.

dominion is a waste of time

This whole game is a waste of time.

But I would rather waste my time doing something fun rather than grinding minions and pushing towers.

I'm not saying it's not fun. It was my preferred mode for a while, but it is basically unsupported that it's just match after match of fringe-abuse champions.

It's very disconcerting to try and win a very quick dominion easy bot game and you lose because no one else on your team is enough of a person to take the capture points.

Yeah pretty much everyone that plays Dominion is a bot. It's a way people use to level up accounts to sell. Very few notice/care about Dominion so you don't have to worry about losing too many of the accounts to a ban, and the games go by quickly so you get xp quickly.

I think Riot intentionally lets bots roam Dominion so they can keep track of them and experiment on detecting/banning them.

Bots continually resurface in Dominion and Riot will reign them in every 6 months or so.

It's not like Riot even gives two shits about dominion anyways
