Trying to become a better Poppy.

So, as I climb once again in the ladders of preseason... Ive started looking to my champions to see if I can find something new to use. Yes I know I do well with Leona supp and my Morgana mid is pretty nice, but Ive always loved the Top and Jungle positions more than support and mid.

I ended up grabbing Poppy for a game. Ended up in the jungle. Started playing and immediately started feeling at home with her kit. Its so clear and concise. Simple even. I had no trouble picking up how to land my combos. And even though I got myself into some dangerous spots, conserving my flash and W at times and even the new jungle plants saved my ass.

In short a wonderful game. I won and took her into top lane on the next game.

Things continued to do alright. I received plenty of help from my Jungler and I easily got ahead on the enemy laner. The problem quickly became that I couldnt take my advantage into the other lanes, which quickly fell behind even though we was up in kills.

I cant help but think either

A. I didnt itemize properly

B. I should have told my Jungler to help other lanes.

C. I didnt do enough to help other lanes in the early game.

So, the last two can be fixed, but the first thing I need some input on. And Im tired of outdated guides and what Riot suggests. I want to hear what people are actively building.

Honestly with poppy, just build straight tank. Also a one of the sheen items is good on her, tri if ahead or ice if behind, but make sure you get the sheen in quick, ups her safe by alot. Also you said that you could help other lanes, basically your goal with poppy is to make your top lane as useless as possible. Kill him under turret pop mastery back and repeat. Once your good and ahead, just start pushing his top lane towards inhib, and once you draw pressure from jg and mid, tp bot and push that tower over. One of the biggest problems I see is people build damage on her, don't, black cleaver sucks, maw suck, steraks sucks, Titanic sucks, all of them except tri or ice. Just stack the those resistances.
