Help with going from unranked to ranked TT

Hello, This is my first post (if this isn't the right place I'm sorry).

Background: I'm fairly new to LoL (5 months of play time). I'm at full mastery lvl and I play support and jungle all the time. I'm starting off my 10 pre-rank games (6/10).

Problem: I love playing Twisted Treeline unranked. I'm pretty good and frequently get "s" ranks in them. I played my first ranked TT last night and I was smoked (1/8/1 with a lose) I played jg Shyv (tank build). The other team was good at sending in their Ashe as bait and would frequently gank me from the bushes when I dove. My other teammates consisted of Lux and Graves. A few deaths in I realized they were playing passive and would play far back and frequently return to buy items. The Graves didn't like me entering his lane (I guess I was interrupting his flow even when the minions were attacking his tower with add pressure from champs). I suppose I should have played more passively, but I found it tough to wait for the right time to dive when our towers were pressed and our team was out of sink with my dives (lack of communication from me I guess). I accept a lot of blame for the lose, but my team ended up breaking code and swearing at me and saying they were going to report me for feeding. I didn't report them (one was on a promo and I felt a little bad for playing bad).

My question is this: How do play better at Twisted Treeline ranked? What should I practice in TT unranked (such a garbage fest with all the bots and random play though)? I like to play Irelia and Shyv. What should the ranked laning phases look like in ranked TT? I really don't want to wreck someones promo again or get berated (was up all night thinking about it).

Thank you for all responses. Irelia Shyvana

Don't feel too bad about going into ranked TT because a lot of the players are probably better than you.

Let me explain... So this is the first season there is a "flex queue" for ranked TT, meaning not a lot of people have played it. Some people (including myself) are somewhat a high rank, but have rarely played TT. Because of this, My MMR is not where it probably should be due to my mechanical skill, so I am going to be playing against lower ranked players, and I'll stomp them.

Usually if you are knew to league, and just reached level 30, your placement matches are going to be dificult because you start off playing against higher players than you should be.

To answer the question, really the best way is to spam play ranked. You can play a lot of normal games, but a lot of the accounts that play normal TT are bots, so that might not help you out too much.

For the champions, neither of them are the best at TT, but they can work. Irelia you need to either get a lead early or just outfarm the enemies. You become really strong when you get item 3078 so when you buy it, look for picks or opportunities to kill people because that is your best chance.

Shyvana is very item dependent. If you are playing her in the jungle, you want to farm and look for an opportunity to get free assists and kills. Once you get a few items, you'll be able to win fights pretty easily.

Okay, i mostly play summoners rift ranked but I have some tips for you. One is maybe stay away from ranked for a month or so for 2 reasons, one is at the moment in your placement games you will be against people that are a LOT better than you, it is a better idea to wait till like febuary to play. I have some tips for shyvana that helped me get to silver in summoners rift ranked. At 900 gold go back and get 2 daggers and boots, these items make it hard for the enemy jungler to fight you. Then invade them and steel their camps, but remembere to be careful if your laners arent close enough to lend you some support.

Thank you all. These all sound like pretty good ideas. I'll try them and see how it goes. Thank you for the support.

The guys over at The Shadow Isles came out with a new 3v3 Bible recently that has much more in-depth information on TT gameplay. MetaLoL and METAsrc offer tier lists if you're interested in relative champion power.

I've recently stopped mourning Dominion's passing and playing Twisted Treeline. These helped cement a few ideas that I wasn't sure about, so thanks for posting them.

Also: after having seen how awful the average Kog does on Treeline via that MetaLoL site I'm suddenly not puzzled anymore regarding why I've been getting an S nearly every single game.
