"Rotating Game Mode"

So what is the rotating game mode besides something that takes up space on the play screen? I never see any game mode being used in it, when I know there are plenty out there. I was under the impression that a different game mode every week or weekend was to be featured, is that not the case? Now don't get me wrong, regular play is fine, but the atmosphere of the game modes like URF or One for All was a ton of fun! I just don't want to see a great idea go to waste.

Rotating game modes are too much fun. It takes people away from playing ranked. So in order to preserve the precious ranked q times we dont get rotating game modes any more.

What baffles me is why people defend this logic. If ranked/competitive play can only be protected by lowering the fun/diversity of the game overall, is it really worth protecting in the first place? Are video games not supposed to be fun? Why is casually enjoying LoL a bad thing now? Because it wasn't this way 6-7 years ago.

I like ascension, Blood moon, urf, the all adc one they did once on that cool ass map, and Poro. Those r my faves. Not really a fan of the thresh one, or one for all, or the play against AI bosses.
