Discussion about balance.
I'm not good at this game. I'm Silver 2. That says it all. But I have genuine problems with League of Legends balance I'm trying to get help with.
Basically I also play Smite. And the balance in Smite feels totally different from league and I'm trying to understand why. Generally I would think that if Champion A builds full tank items. Absolutely no damage built whatsoever. Then that champion SHOULDN'T deal much damage. But this isn't the case in League of Legends. It definitely doesn't FEEL like it. And I'm talking RAW damage without counting for outplays and stuff like that. I don't notice this kind of thing in Smite at all. Even losing games in Smite I never salt hard and cry op. Because it FEELS like I lost either due to afk teammate or the enemy team played better. Even in cases where the game is obviously improperly balanced.
Yet in League of Legends nearly every single game lost (not all) I find something in that game that feels EXTREMELY F***ING BROKEN. Tanks deal insane amounts of damage. Garen with full tank items can kill the ADC in less than a second and a half. Everyone has seen Tank Ekko still nuking people. Illaoi taps R on 3 people and spirit: Triple kill within 2 seconds.
It doesn't matter if outplay potential is there. It doesn't matter if people can make several arguments about champions being balanced. At the end of the day the way we perceive and feel about the game matters infinitely more than the reality. Argue all day long how balanced something like the damage Draven deals is balanced (and I believe it is) At the end of the game I'm still going be extremely frustrated when 9 minutes into the game Draven is already dealing more than 200 damage per basic attack.
We've all seen people cry op and rage nearly every single game. Hell I do it frequently! It all comes down to if things FEEL balanced. It doesn't matter one damn bit if the game is truly balanced or not. It matters if people perceive that it is balanced. The perception is all that matters.
League of Legends FEELS horribly balanced. And that matters so much more.
When playing league of legends there are constantly moments where after something happens I sit back and think that there was absolutely nothing I could have done. I didn't play perfectly obviously. No one does. But still you look at death recap and the first thought that goes through your mind is "there was nothing I could have done" or "that was completely overpowered and broken" Then something is wrong somewhere. It should FEEL balanced at least in my mind. And this isn't something that is possible for the game anymore. If Smite had a tenth of League of Legends player base i shouldn't think that I'd play League of Legends ever again But as it stands I want to play League so please by all means let's discuss league of legends balance and maybe with enough of talking to you fine folk I'll find the answers i'm looking for and will be able to play League just for fun again.
