Eh, another Marksman I'll buy because I've got an excess amount of IP but will never play.

AD Xerath. fun for all the family

lol, when you said that, I was thinking of pre-kit Xerath and all the range he had...

But I understand, his Q is basically a Sivir ability, but you have to admit its pretty cool. The thought, the visuals, the fact that it doesn't continue on forever. His W is a lot like Jinx's W, only longer with a small Varus ult mixed in. His E is like Caitlyn's mixed with Teemo's shroom. It's counter-able, neat, and useful (might have more limitations). His ultimate is probably the hardest to use, seems that he remains immobile and deals up to a certain amount. It's actually relatively new and I can't see how anyone besides Xerath can match it, except Xerath can do it in a full 360° while Jhin is limited to his 45° cone to hit a target.

He also has a limit like Graves which I would like to see. It gives people a option of which would be better if they like the style. A ton of damage to many enemies, or a champ more reliant on abilities.

Redaga1 votes

his W is Xerath Q, his E is more akin to Xerath W but is a trap rather than a skill shot

speaking of Xerath R, I dare to say Jhin R is better, don matter Xerath R is 360, you ussually only focus in 1 direction of the target, and he has 3 barrages on a incredible small Area to land the skill shot. also you have to move your camera towards your target so your are open for a gank. jhin on the other hand the camera pans out entirely to show him, he has 4 shots rather than 3 and his shots are an AoE line.

Love the ammo system and the abilities... on another note why even play Cait now? He's the more awesome sniper with even cooler traps...

Electro5228 votes

Cait has consistent, safe, long range damage, and is awesome at sieging towers.

Jhin is the REAL sniper here. He isn't meant to siege, he's meant to pick off targets from extreme range........slowly, and painfully.

LatticeGrimoire8 votes

Cait WAS the REAL sniper that is what she was sold as when she first cam out. Also when asked if they could make her R a skill shot they said no that is OP...

Sire Hippington1 votes

slowly, and painfully

.... you sure you don't confuse sniper with torturer?

Electro5221 votes

I don't know about you, but the "death is beautiful" theme around him kind of entails he falls under both categories.

Sire Hippington2 votes

just that you said he is 'the REAL sniper', picking off targets from extreme range, slowly and painfully. Just that an sniper does not kill slowly and painfully. He is patient, but ones he pulls the trigger, it goes fast, and his vicitim mostlikely feels little pain as it dies befor it knows what happend.

Count Zubat2 votes

slowly, and painfully.

I thought snipers were all about quickly disposing their targets with very accurate shots, most of the times in the head, but whatever...

Electro5222 votes

Exactly. This is what Jhin does....to an extent.

And since when has Cait ever felt like an actual sniper?

OverpoweredSoap6 votes

I'm honestly not too impressed with his visual champion design, I feel like it could be done a little better.

His kit seems rather different though, I wonder how'll play it out with everyone else being so mobile.

DíckWallace6 votes

He's not at all how the trailer portrayed him. It looked like he'd have elemental rounds and made art out of death. Kind of disappointed actually but that's just like my opinion, mayne I'll change my mind once I play him.

Catastrop2 votes

It's implied that he's a crazy person. So all that art was just inside his head. Think Pyro Vision.

Malicious Metal5 votes

It'll be interesting how exactly a Children of the Grave Jhin would work. I bet it'll be buggy as hell.

ItsStout2 votes

Probably similar to Children of the Graves.

Ha. Ha ha. I made a funny.

LatticeGrimoire4 votes

I hate him, he comply takes Caitlyn as the sniper of LOL. The thing that pisses me of the most is when asked about making Caitlyn R a skill shot they said "no we can not make that work it is to OP"

Electro5221 votes

And how long agao did they say that?

Once Xerath was reworked, it was really only a matter of time before we had a real sniper in the game. Besides, Cait has never really needed a rework, and thus, they pushed her more towards the sieging master of the game, and let Jhin take the official sniper role.

LatticeGrimoire1 votes

They said in it one of the red discussions about the ADC up dates. "Cait has never really needed a rework, and thus, they pushed her more towards the sieging master of the game, and let Jhin take the official sniper role." Yes you are right about that but that really disappointed me because I love her original concept as a sniper. It is really lame to just have them drop that part of her but still leave her with the her old super clunkey R that really does not help her in the role that her has been forced in to.

LatticeGrimoire1 votes

I am trying to find the red post that it was in I am not find it, sorry i will keep looking...

Zero Skill Tank4 votes

His design concerns me VERY much as a Teemo player, because what I feel is if his numbers are big enough to keep him relevant in fights, stepping on a trap will likely yield a free kill from him, if only he is anywhere nearby - very wide nearby, considering his ranges.

Also getting AD from all marksman stats seems like he will support only one play pattern with no room for any alteration.

Also I don't like the visuals at all. Maybe voicepack will save him.

VictoryDance963 votes

I will try him out next week or 2 weeks, whenever he is free. But I am not getting too hyped about it.

Catastrop3 votes

If he can play mid, he's got my attention. Otherwise, just another Marksman I can only dream to bring mid lane.

DrCyanide1 votes

I think he's going to do well mid lane. His drawbacks are drawbacks when compared to other marksmen. Compared to the champions that normally run around mid lane though, and he should be fine.

That range... I honestly don't know why people are comparing him to the marksmen, that range reminds me of Xerath more than anything.

Catastrop1 votes

I can definitely see him being really safe at mid with his traps now that I think about it. His ult allows him to set up camp in the jungle and just snipe bot lane then get back once he's done. Hmm, I definitely see him playing mid now. He might even become my go to Midlane Marksman(Sorry Varus)

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

My first question is wave clear. If he's using an ammo system for AA's and can't increase attack speed, I see him getting forced under turret while his opponents roam. Top lane might work a bit better, since it's easier for junglers to gank in this scenario. Would need a lot of coordination though.

Catastrop1 votes

Wave clear might be an issue in the earlier levels, but his spells seem to have reasonable mana costs. I'm thinking as the minion wave is coming in, using W to hit them all would be a good choice. That way, his minions can do their work faster and he won't have too much problems wave clearing. Something else I thought of, with the way his 4th AA is, I'd think item 3042 item 3078 would be good choices on him for some ridiculous burst.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here, and guess Sheen won't be very effective. Not because of his kit! He gets bonus damage from Crit chance and attack speed. I'm willing to bet his base damage will take a hit to compensate (most likely his per level). Sheen procs only use base damage.

Catastrop1 votes

Ugh, I completely forgot about that. I kind of wanted to pull of some GP levels of bonus MS with the Rage proc and his MS increase, but now that just seems like such a far off dream. Anyway, if it's for the sake of balance. (I'm still going to hope his base AD isn't too gimped though)

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

(I'm still going to hope his base AD isn't too gimped though)

Like I said, his lvl 1 AD will probably be above average (for "Marksman"), but his per level will be trash to compensate for how much he will get from stat conversion.

I'm more interested in how the reduced crit will apply. I assume they're going to balance it so that the end damage is the same (he gets bonus damage from crit chance). But if they cut the crit damage deep enough, it'll also make IE a waste on him. Strange as it may sound, I actually hope they do this. It'll be interesting to see what builds come out of it.

Catastrop1 votes

Same here to be honest. I really want to be able to build him like a marksman, just not the standard cookie-cutter builds you see everyone running around with. I can already think of items that could be considered, but might up quite situational on him. item 3156 for example since it gives a boost to his AS, thereby increasing his AD for a duration to pull off some low health clutch plays. Someone pointed out item 3142 as well, which I think may end up being a core.

LankPants1 votes

His damage scales up with attack speed and crit, so I think these stats will be too valuable on him to buy Muramana. He also wouldn't proc Muramana with his spells because they're technically AOE, they only hit one champ but they can also hit creeps, so unless there's some funky coding it won't proc.

I think he'll be best with a item 3142 build, since he only needs the AS for a few seconds while he's shooting and having a constant stream of damage isn't as important for him as other ADCs.

LankPants1 votes

If you stop giving a fuck what your team thinks you can run ADCs mid lane.

I've been running both Ashe and Cait mid lane for a fair while, they're both completely fine there. I'm sure you could run others as well.

Catastrop1 votes

It's not quite what my team thinks(it does affect my choices somewhat though), it's more what works. I'm quite fond Corki Ezreal Varus mid because I can handle myself quite well with them there, but the other ADC's, I just can't seem to make work.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

I run cait top. The rage. . .

Hayaishi23 votes

The real ADC sniper is Varus, Caitlyn hasn't fit the theme for a long while now.

LatticeGrimoire1 votes

But that was her original concept and riot should try and deliver on that and just just drop it.

Krinu3 votes

My thoughts so far? R.I.P. Caitlyn...

LatticeGrimoire1 votes

Yep!

Chespin20133 votes

he looks like a combination of Caitlyn Graves Xerath by the looks on how he is played I'm guessing he would be played mostly mid

Milodic Mellodi2 votes

item 3124 FTW GR = 8 stacks of 8% AS, +3 AD, and +4 AP, with (20 + (15% AD + 7.5% AP)) AoE damage at 8 stacks With Jhin, you get all that but the AS...but instead of AS, you get increased damage based on that 8-64% AS you would've gotten.

Also, it's fair to mention there'll also be item 3092 usage on our new Virtuoso, due to the vision and slow it provides.

Milodic Mellodi1 votes

Looking more on it, it's also fair to say that item 3031 is a great item for him. IE = +65 AD and +20% Crit Chance, with a UNIQUE Passive that increases Crit Bonus Damage by 50%. So...you gain AD, plus more AD based on the 20% Crit Chance, and your Crits deal 50% more damage. What people are saying is that autos 1-3 don't crit, but the 4th is guaranteed...which means with IE you're allowed to engage/disengage pretty hard, especially since the Crit Damage reduction is offset by the item's UNIQUE.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

Jhin’s crits deal less damage than normal, and his attack speed doesn’t actually scale with attack speed. Instead, Jhin gains attack damage from any attack speed and crit chance he earns through itemization and runes, while crits give him a burst of movement based on his attack speed.

His crits deal reduced damage, but all his AA's can still crit according to the reveal page. If it works like Yasuo's passive, then IE's passive could end up being underwhelming. All a question of numbers.

WookieJesuz1 votes

Would take 100 years to stack up tho

LankPants1 votes

item 3124 FTW

You realise you couldn't ever actually stack it up right? In order to fully stack a Rageblade you'd need to fire two full cycles of your passive.

This is the first time I've actually been exited about a new champ since Braum. Personally I'm just so sick of the god damn mobility creep in this game, so I can definitely get behind a new champ who isn't adding to it at all.

Illaoi, Gangplank rework, TahmKench, Bard were all new with minimal mobility.

Rework's aren't really new champions, I enjoyed the Fiora rework (paradoxically enough) and the Ashe rework quite a lot but I don't class them as new champs.

Illaoi, Tahm Kench and Bard are all mobile relative to their class, Bard is even quite mobile relative to the average champion in the game. They're still adding to the mobility creeps since they're increasing the overall mobility of their class.

Illaoi has no mobility spell other than her W, and even then it doesn't carry her very far. Considering it part of "mobility creep" just seems nitpicky and looking for something to complain about. Tahm has his ult, but that isn't considered any more mobile than Shen's ult, and it's an ult with an exceptionally long cooldown. Again, nitpicky. Bard has a lot of mobility, yes, but here is the thing: It affects allies and enemies. You can't consider his mobility a problem when literally any player in the game can use it. He has a speed boost in his passive, but tagging him with even 1 damage turns it off. None of them add to the mobility issue, and I think that mobility isn't an issue anyways. Especially considering that immobile mages are dominating the meta right now.
