Why Dominion should NOT be removed from the game

There is an entire community built around the map dominion, thousands of people play hide and go seek on that map in custom games. By removing the dominion map from the game permanently Riot will be destroying that community and game mode that is loved by many league of legends players. Riot needs to keep that map in the game because there are far too many people that enjoy that game mode and that is the only map you can play it on. Maybe if Riot were to add a better custom game creator, that made it so you could edit minion spawns, turret placement, etc..., then it might be acceptable but until this happens-which it probably never will- Riot should keep the Crystal Scar at least available for custom games.

Keeping it for custom games will be just as much a drain on resources for them as keeping up the queue. There is literally no reason to waste money on a game mode who's matchmaking queue is barren and riddled with bots, and for the sake of one gameplay style. You think thousands of players is a lot to Riot, but in a game where 32 million people play at least, it's not.

its not costing resources, other than money. They haven't made any serious changes to it in over 2 seasons.

Also, dominion was built to go for 20 minutes, balanced, for it, and designed for it. They're pushing Summoner's Rift to 20 minutes when it was to last 40-60 minutes. As such they're screwing up the balance on SR like crazy, and a lot of champions will need reworks for it to even work. If they keep dominion around then they'll have 20 minute map without having to destroy many seasons worth of balancing and possibly 100s of champion reworks and tweaks.

I think they should try to amp up dominion instead, and make it more attractive to players as a 'casual' gamemode. Maybe make it a 2nd "1st win of the Day" that is counted separately to SR. Or how about create new items for it with very attractive and possibly overpowered, if it was in SR, items that truly spice up dominion. Even right now I have a ton of fun playing Dominion; the issue for me is it feels abandoned, it feels like Riot stopped caring about it the moment they started pushing LCS-based balance changes.
