How to nerf Udyr correctly
(I accidentally just posted this in memes and games, posting on correct board) Udyr is my main champion and I really love playing him. The simplistic kit lets you dominate games by playing strategically and having good game knowledge. Running super fast and spamming lvl 5 emote while dodging skill shots is also a fave of mine.
I feel he has always been a strong mid game champ, but is now a lot stronger early due to the new jungle item. However I don't feel using that item is a bad fit for udyr. It gives you a chance to play very aggressive early and have a damage based Phoenix build early/mid game that doesn't require power farming the jungle to get sated.
People believe that the problem with him is his move speed being so damn high early and being able to get in your face to drop the flames. Although this is his identity, this is what he is known for and has always done.
It is in fact though that you get to stun the enemy so frequently because of the low passive stun timer, the damage from runic just makes his ganks hurt a lot more early.
For example a normal top lane gank plays out by running straight at the overextended enemy (hitting bear stance and dodging any cc) and stunning them, then running behind them to block their path to the turret and start dropping the flames. They then use their gap closer or flash, and the passive timer is almost gone so you just hit bear stance again and stun. Depending on how far pushed they are in lane you an easily get off 2 or 3 stuns while they try to get back to their tower. That combined with cc from your top laner makes for basically free kills.
I really don't want to see any udyr nerfs but this is where they should target him if they are going to nerf him. The timer is currently 6 seconds at all ranks. Making it scale down from a higher value with champion levels would help fix the problem. Or making it scale with points in tiger stance could help as you have to choose between having a bigger shield or stunning more often. Any thoughts from udyr lovers/haters would be great :) soz for the longish post but thanks for reading. I could talk all day about the 'dyr.
