"Stuck in Bronze" Post.... I need guidance.

This is another stuck in Bronze post. I've been playing league on and off for 5 years or so. More recently I've decided to take back up the old hobby and really go for the great ladder climb.... except it wasn't that simple haha. Getting back into the groove of the game was a task in and of itself, but feeling good after a couple weeks of norms I felt like I'd really gotten a handle back on the game! So into ranked I went. And got totally wrecked D: Of course I did well here and there but it was nothing consistent. League can be pretty toxic in bronze as well but honestly I've long accepted it's out of your control for the most part so it's best to stay positive and focus on helping your team and remain focused on the objectives. I recently switched to support role thinking I'd be able to help my team more from bot, as it's a very impactful lane(not to take away from the others, we all can agree that you need every role to win a game of league). I had fun on Vel Koz when he I used to play and I knew he was still meta for the support role in my elo, not to mention I came to realize it's much better to be a master of a couple champions than it is to be average at many champions... I have to say, I believe I'm getting much better at the game and I can feel my game IQ really growing. I get a lot of compliments on how I play and honors frequently. I've been averaging A to S pretty much every game with Vel now and it feels really good...but I still do stupid things sometimes. Like paying attention to the map at the wrong times, or facechecking a bush that I know has potential enemies in it, or find myself split between helping another lane or focusing an obj so I end up roaming back and forth which ultimately ends up wasting time. It's like I'm picking between A) and B) but really I should be focusing on C)... Also sometimes I feel like my impact on the game just isn't felt. Like it seems that some games are inevitably lost. I try my best to keep hope, even when there's others fighting amongst themselves/giving up. I know there's really only so many things you can improve at my level that will make a difference and ultimately you need to know when to call it a night so you can regroup your mentality persay, I got into B1 just to derank right back to B2 and lose like 3 more games.. Going to bed and for now..hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. If anybody could give me some tips that would be greatly appreciated.

The best advice i can give you is to play simpler champions and not more than 3 - 5 so u can learn what and when u must do. Also playing support won't get you too far in that elo. If u stick to something like annie csing with q and playing a bit passively early will be of much help to gain some elo. As for playing Vel'Koz in general i suggest u completely scrap the tear build and try either the glacial augument slowing one or going for luden m pen boots then liandry and possibly a rabadon after that. You don't benefit much from rylai since ur ult and q already slow and you're wasting gold into rylai. The goal is to get as much ap as possible to do more true dmg and since u do true dmg u should aim at liandry as an only penetration item.

I'll take that advice to heart. I see it's not always about following the most popular guide on mobafire XD

i would get a bit of variety into your support champion pool, you appear to be a decent enough vel support player but it wouldnt hurt to get to know a few more champions

Lux has a fairly similar playstyle, strenghts and weaknesses of vel but has far more utility

Nautilus arguably the strongest of the tank support in the lower ranks, good engage and good peel. Not to mention how beefy he can become.

Enchanters are a difficult one in solo q at the moment, you cannot guarantee that you will be paired with a decent adc so much of there potential is wasted.

Variety is the spice of life eh? Well then I suppose it's time for me to hit up some norms and do some learning!

i main velkoz support and mid and just got to gold this season after being silver for so long, didnt actually start to climb rapidly until i started one tricking him.if he was picked or banned id always just dodge.hes not banned or picked that often so you shouldnt have an issue.watch high elo play of whatever champ you want to master, look up build guides and learn what items to build and when to build them.game sense develops over time and you will improve if you keep playing especially if its the same champ.a lot of the climbing success aspect is mental as when tilt sets in its easy to go on a losing streak.thats why for me after 2 losses in a row i normally call it quits for a few hours.sometimes until the next day.this is my advice coming from someone thats been in similar situation

Thanks for the advice. It seems I just need more game experience, and I need to know when to call it quits before I do irreparable damage. It's easy to get sucked in thinking that the next game won't be another L, but once you're on a roll it's best to throw in the towel for a bit.

Just be a meta slave. Abuse the simple but broken shit: Pyke Renekton Fizz Malzahar etc.

Climbing is about being consistent. You don't even have to consistently be good. Just be consistently not bad and you can climb.

I climbed to Gold on that account by just not being bad consistently. I went into every game with one goal.....not feeding or otherwise being the reason my teams ever lost. It's that simple. Chance will do the rest. Some games your team will feed out of control. You just ff and move on. Some games your team will do quite well and your job is to simply not make it hard for them to win by going 0-5 in lane. That's all you need to do.

A lot of people stuck in Bronze would be alarmed at just how many games are lost soley because of them. If they gave their egos a rest, they should be able to see that.

i once used to believe that mmr could be locked,or that there was always a legit reason other than my own mistakes or lack of skill for the reason i could never climb.i do believe now that you will end up wherever your skill level is and if you are stuck then that means you need to get better.im having a lot more fun now in the game just trying my best to improve and make less and less mistakes.i dont worry about the things that i cant control but make sure if we lose i still played my best and try to learn something from the replays.oh yea thats another thing is watch some of your past games from time to time, helped me a lot to see my mistakes much better.only now am i starting to see real results in my winrates.i had held myself back all this time

I've started to watch some replays and analyzing them with the help of some very generous people. I feel I just need to put the advice into motion now and try to get better with each new game :)

I got you, I will be the one Listen closely you can be the best support in the world has ever exist but the botlaner can suffer from being in the right rank (yes I mean that he is a total trash) and that it's actualy easier to carry from a solo lane - only downside of solo lanes is that if the enemy against you is duoing with their jungler and everyone I mean everyone expect you to follow someone when they for example go from mid to botlane, you could follow but what about the cs and free tower damage? on solo lane is important to keep track of where your enemy laner is: so if you know he recalled, you can just push fast and if he comes bot instead of mid you get lot of tower damage, also pretty lot of people forget that winning games lies in the pushing turrets, I see alot of people's turret damage be incredibly low like they just hit the turret 10 times in a full game, of course junglers don't have time for turrets that much like laners

Another thing you say is that watching map at the wrong time? when is wrong time to look at map? every time you look at map you get valuable information, even if it's not your lane: if you see jungler top lane you know he can't be mid because he is top, you can see your own jungler's position

With the lane it's up to you, however I see you only play Vel'Koz - that's not a problem but it might become a problem if someone bans your only champion your impact on game will be even smaller because you are used to play Vel'Koz

The most important thing to remember is that you can't win all games, like all the games you play like that is just impossible But winning more games from losing is more realistic

Another important thing would be that if you tilt, you shouldn't Tilting is great way to decrease your performance Let's ask ourselves what do you do when you're tilted and what do you want? Well you definetly want your laner to die maybe because he somehow tilted you, so you become greedy, you get focused so much on killing him that you forget to ward bushes, farm efficiently, forget about enemy's cooldowns, and other

Hope this helped

Honestly, the easiest way to win is to CS, focus OBJ'S, and make as little mistakes as possible. I could go a bit more in depth, but i doubt anyone wants to take the time out of their day to read it. Add me in game and I can help you
