Meta champs or out of meta champs

Recently I came back from hiatus of League, and now I'm just playing some random champions for fun. Although it's not really that much I went from S3 to S2 with AP Nidalee mid. I check all these "tier lists" saying Riven is a god tier top right now, and seeing as she is a good champion to main, I'm not sure what to do rn. Should I go to my old champions and champions that are out of meta and get great with them or just abuse like these op champs? Thnx

If you can manage to get consistent results with your off-meta picks, comparable to that of meta picks, then go right ahead. The primary advantage of off-meta mains is that they have the same level of skill as other players at their level, but the enemy has no idea what you're capable of and that lack of experience can get you kills you normally wouldn't have gotten had you played a meta pick instead.
