why did I demote after losing one game at 0 LP?

I recently hit Silver 2 after failing to complete my promos 2 times. Once I hit Silver 2 0 LP, I lost one game (still 0 LP), then I won one game, putting me at Silver 2 19 LP, and then I lost one (-20, 0 LP) and other one, demoting me back to Silver 3. Is this supposed to happen?

usually people lose 3 or more games in a row at 0 LP, then they demote.

Lol. I'm struggling to find a groove to get off the 0 LP S4 line man. I was S1 a couple days ago. People keep leaving and leaving us a seriously bad situation. They lose lane, so they give up.
